Researching this, I have found so far that the GoVideo vcr codes will operate the VCR, and that the Samsung 2500 uses the identical remote. I am not at home now, but I will test Samsung DVD codes on Monday to see if they work. More details next week.

I've got an (unrelated) question about these DVD/VCR combo units:

Doesn't DVD Macrovision copy protection effectively prevent the taping of DVDs? If so, what's the point?

To save space, and give headaches.

Way OT! I thought that the whole object of DVD was to get rid of tape. I only use the vcr for some of my old tapes and as a second backup show recording device. ReplayTV has 99% replaced it.
