I am using a RS 15-1995 to control a downstairs Dishplayer from my upstairs bedroom. I have Toshiba TVs both downstairs (50H71) and in the bedroom (30" CRT, don't know model). I would like the 1995 to control the upstairs TV as well, but both TVs respond to the 0156 codes, which is obviously irritating to those watching TV downstairs.

My question: Is there any way to have different unit codes established on one of the Toshiba sets such that both TVs don't respond to the same codes? Like the ways you can set up multiple ReplayTV units, for example. I have a JP1 cable and have done several upgrades via that method.

I'm not sure which forum to use to post this question, so I am cross-posting it to both the OFA and discrete hunter forums. Sorry if that is a protocol violation (no pun intended...).

No, you can't change the remote address of a Toshiba Tv.

How is it you can be within IR range *and* line-of-sight of both TVs simultaneously on 2 different floors?

I think the 15-1995 transmits both IR and RF and is supplied with an RF to IR coverter. I assume that RF to IR converter is positioned to operate the downstairs Dishplayer and that position (intentionally or accidently) also operates the downstairs TV.

So the objective seems to be to make a 15-1995 operate the upstairs TV by IR and the downstairs Dishplayer by RF, but not operate the downstairs TV.

Maybe the solution is moving the RF to IR converter so it can't affect the TV. Maybe it would take a more complicated solution.

John as usual is correct. The layout of the room and equipment does not make it possible to position the RF base station such that it would only control the Dishplayer/DVD/VCR units that I need to control without also affecting the TV.

It's a shame that the Toshiba TVs can't be set in this manner, but I knew that it was a long shot. Thanks for the replies.
