I've been playing with the RS 15-2116 for the last couple weeks and it does everything I want (with JP1) except RF. Now I'd like to get the 15-2117 but:

1) I've called local stores and they can't even find the product number.
2) I called 800-THE-SHACK (which the RS website had it in stock) and they are out, with stock estimated to arrive in 3 weeks.

My question is, has anybody bought the 2117 yet? If so, where did you find one and how good is the RF range? Also, are there any differences between the 2116 and 2117 besides RF?

Thanks in advance for your replies!

I have a 15-2117, well sort of. Actually, i bought the 15-2116 the second it came out and then transfered over the RF puck from an old URC-8090 Producer 8 that I'm not using anymore, and it works great.

Robman, thanks for the tip. Do you know of any places where I could get a cheap RF remote (with puck and separate transmitter)? I'd be willing to do the transfer, but I'd like to find a cheap source for the old RF remotes?

Thanks in advance for your reply!

The older non-learning Producer 8 (model number URC-8090) doesn't fetch that much on ebay, so that's the best place to start, sometimes you can even find people selling broken ones, which would suit you perfectly.

On the other hand, it probably wouldn't be that hard to build one from scratch. You can get the schematics etc on the FCC web site (grantee code: DI2, equipment code: 9800)
