I bought my in-laws a URC-8910 and an RCA home theatre Receiver and DVD combo for Christmas, but I can't find the code to control the receiver!

I can control the DVD, the TV, the VCR and the SAT by Directv but NOT THE RECEIVER/AMP/DVD COMBO!!

GNASHING my teeth in Las Vegas!!

Anyone got the magic bullet? (or code?)

Pam,
Your post is a little confusing since you say you got the dvd working, then half sentence later dvd isn't working. I'll have to assume there's also a standalone dvd player as well as the TV and VCR.
That means you're having a problem that will control the HT ina a box with just one code. That's not likely to exist, and even if it did, YOU DON'T WANT IT.

Ok, a little explanation. THE HT inabox is several devices all rolled up into one unit. Now, a Receiver is nothing but a preamp/amp and tuner in a single unit. So this has the dvd added.
Back in the days when devices were distinct units, Having full functionality of a tuner required about 20-25 buttons. OK, Now Preamps generally require another 20-30 buttons, more if soundfields are involved. Soundfields on a standalone unit require about 20 or more themselves. Then the dvd players typically use 25-40 or so buttons. If you total all these together, it's easy to see that for FULL functionality, you'd need a remote with 80-120 buttons.
Now, count how many you have. Guess what, Look at all the functionality that you're gonna LOSE if they put all those on just one device code.
Not only that, but if they did decide to put em all in a single device setup code, it's likely be a combo code, requiring double byte keymoves to add something you want, and youcan't do that manually. Therefore, what you really want to do is find the 3-4 device setup codes that give you the most functionality, and split them up on seperate device buttons, then be able to use keymoves to have functions like volume, tone controls, etc. on all the others.
So, the first task is to find a working AMP/receiver code that works that part of the unit. That'll be the central part and thus the first requirement. Then search for a working TUNER device setup code that does a good job just controlling the tuner functions(station presets, fm/am selection, seek, scan, etc.). The do like-wise for the dvd portion.
You're trying to find a one code works all, that a mistake, and even if you found one, you'd hate it, you just LOSE TOO much control. The remote is an 8 device remote, you've only used up three device buttons, so you still have 5 left to split that HT inabox into.
Now, find the setup codes that work just one portion of the whole device, then go on from there.

Pam,

The code you're looking for is RCVR/1390 or RCVR/1609. Since your remote is modem upgradable, call OFA customer support and ask them to load this.
