I have searched, scoured, and otherwise exhausted all avenues for discrete on/off codes for my DVD player. I have reviewed the workarounds involving the PLAY and POWER codes. However, I have not seen any requests for a "disc skip" code.

The DVD player is a 7-disc changer and has a "disc skip/exchange" button on the front. The supplied JVC remote does not have the disc skip function on it. Has anyone heard of a code that would provide this capability? Is it likely that the unit simply doesn't provide this function through a remote?

The remote does allow direct disc access. By pressing the disc select button and then a number between one and seven I can go directly to any disc. Unfortunately unless you are keeping tabs on which disc you are playing, seeing the front of the DVD player from a distance or while hidden in a closet (the DVD player, not me) can be quite difficult. Knowing this, can anyone think of a reasonable workaround involving disc skip?

I am currently using an RS 15-2104 with a JP-1 cable in conjunction with my new MX-500. Entering any advanced codes would not be a problem.

Thanks in advance for any help that you can offer.

While it's possible they simply didn't provide for that remote function access, it's possible that there still is one. Your post is deplete of the things we need to know, so I'm assuming you just simply did not want to tell us. You've got several options, put your 2104 in the dvd mode, and P,E,F,C every possible code from 000-255, and find it yourself (if it does exist), or use your secret setup code, go to Rob's site, and look up the advance code list for it and see if it's already been discovered and reported to rob to be included at his site.
A third option would be use your cable, the 2104, and the JP-1 tools you should have and write dummy upgrade codes that will search all the possible efc values.
I don't know why you didn't exhaust the obvious. The code you want will be a select toggle which will have an efc different than the one you already have for disc select, which requires 2 button presses. To test whether you've found it, every button press will advance to the next disc, so you'll have to be watching your player's display to know you've found it. If you have it hidden, you'll have to unhide it to know if you've found it or not.

Wow! Except for the "Holier Than Thou" attitude Jim your reply was pretty helpful. I suppose the simple answer to my question was, "No Chris, I haven't seen any codes for disc skip for that JVC DVD player. However, you could try the usual avenues of ..."

Of course I have gone to Rob's pages ("searched, scoured") and retrieved a number of items related to the DVD player. I also picked up a keymap-master file there for the EXACT player. Unfortunately it DOES NOT contain any codes for disc skip. But, I believe I already mentioned that I hadn't seen that anywhere in my searching of the 'net.

Yep, I could try EVERY code that could possibly exist for the DVD player and stumble across it. But, it seems to me that the first sensible step is to ask anybody else if they've already traveled the same road. That's what these forums are for, true?

I'll start with the task of systematic code bombardment while I give others the opportunity to respond to my questions.

Thanks for your time if not your patience.

Chris
