I am new to the .jp1 interface technology and, frankly, do not understand it yet. But I will take the time to learn -- only I would ask one of the more experienced persons on this forum these questions before I start:

I am only interested in Power On and Power Off discrete code functions. Do the following components have these discrete codes:

1. Pioneer 433CMX - plasma display
2. Harman Kardon AVR8000 - receiver
3. Panasonic RP82 - DVD
4. Hughes GCEBOA - Satellite receiver
5. Yamaha CDC-665 - CD player
6. JVC HR-S3500U - VCR

If they all do (or some do) then it will be worth my time in learning how to get those codes and put them into my Home Theater MX-500. If not, I won't waste my time.

Thanks for any help you can give.

1) If you've found UEI setup codes for any of your devices you should mention those setup codes when asking questions, and you should look up those setup codes at Rob's site to find advanced codes, such as the discretes you're requesting

2) You should look for ccf files for your devices in the archives at

If you find them, you should use the ccf2efc program to decode them and see what functions are there and/or use the ProntoEdit program to check for the functions you need (ProntoEdit also can convert the ccf to older format if you get a ccf too new for ccf2efc).

3) Look for a KM txt file for your device at

Even if you need someone to explain any of those results after you find them, you'll get more help if you do the initial search yourself.

Discrete Power codes for JVC, Panasonic, Pioneer and Yamaha are listed here:

Also, many devices can use a device code to power on the device (for example pressing DVD on my receiver will turn it on and select the DVD source).
