If you did a search of the this forum, you would find the following pertinent posts:

I know the 0074 code is not in the 2116, but you could try 0331 (I have not tried it).

I have a 2116 with a jvc 884 receiver, but I used JP1 to program it (the 2116 is JP1 ready - you just need the cable and free software). It may be a lot to learn, but if you put a bit of effort in and go the JP1 route, you will be happy.

I used the 0074 code as a base, but to get the arrows, set, menu keys etc working, you require another code with some keymoves (see " [Link: remotecentral.com] ").

The great thing about this remote (when using JP1) is you can program macros on the device keys. When I hit DVD, it turns on the receiver, sets it to DVD, turns on the TV, turns on the DVD etc...) (and similar for SAT, VCR, CD etc...). Without this, it is multiple presses of device power, device power etc... The Power button I have programmed to turn everything off.

The macros for discrete on/off power (as opposed to the power toggle that is usually used with factor remotes) are useful in such macros... The JVC devices seem to all use the same discrete codes, which you can find at

The other code is 0629 or 1141. Unfortunately neither is in the 2116. Audio code 1374 or 31374 is in most newer remotes and does all the buttons, including arrows. You can still upgrade your 2116 via wav file or JP1 cable, or get just about any newer remote like the radio shack 15-100, 133, 134 or 135. Go visit the forums at hifi-remote.com and they'll help you out.

Mdave, thank you for your reply, I actually have the URC 8910 OFA remote, which I believe is maybe the same? Anyway, if not, the 2 other codes you mentioned are not on [Link: hifi-remote.com], for the discrete menu and arrow advanced codes. I wasn't planning on getting a newer remote because, well, really can't afford it right now, and I really like my OFA 8910. It does everything I need it to do wonderfully, except bring up the OSM (On screen Menu) for my receiver, and the arrows to navigate, the LCD on the remote tells me if it transmits any signal when I press a key, when I press these keys in receiver mode it show no transmission, so they are just not assigned by default. I have a JVC RX-8020, which apparantly most JVC receivers use the same 0074 code, and its the only code listed under JVC Receiver in the original manual.
Ok, so really my core issue I would like solved is getting those keys assigned.
Also you said it can be upgraded via wav file, I know the 8910 does over the phone upgrades with sounds, so, where might I procure such a wav file as to not have to call a long distance number? Well, I might try calling OFA tomorrow and see if they have an updated code that may have full functionality assigned by default. I will let you know.

Yes, the phone upgrade and wav work the same way as far as the remote is concerned. You can make your own wav with JP1 software and play it back over your PC speaker. If you contact OFA, audio 1374 is what you need. For the wav, just ask over at hifi-remote.com forums and someone can tell you how to make your own or might even make it for you. Just post in the non-JP1 forum and tell them what other device code you're using since the wav will wipe out your existing programming unless you add that info into the wav beforehand. THIS upgrade should work fine.
