I’m new to the forum and tried to read as much as I could before posting this. I have the new RS 15-2116 remote but am unable to get it to work with my Onkyo HT-R500 A/V Receiver.

I’ve successfully programmed the following devices onto the RS 15-2116: Sony TV, Sony VCR, RCA DIRECTV Receiver, Hughes DTivo Receiver, and a Pioneer DVD. However, I cannot find any Onkyo code under both the Amp and Rcvr in the users manual. I’ve tried programming the receiver in question with both the Amp and Rcvr device buttons using the code search procedure to no avail. I get a “code not found” when I tried put in Rcvr 0135.

Since Onkyo was not listed under Amp/Receiver in the code table (strange that RS would take out Onkyo from 15-2116, older model remotes supported Onkyo receivers using code 0135), is there another receiver code that’s compatible to the Onkyo? Thanks in advance for any assistance you could provide.

Yet they printed Onkyo on the back of the package as being one of the brands it will do. Don't that just frost ya?

Anyway, I had to go into mine with the JP1 interface to add on the Onkyo codes. Using the "find" option did not work either. It will do them, just not "out of the box" the way they sold it. If you don't have a JP1 cable and the software for it, or you don't want to do it that way. You can always try to learn from your Onkyo remote.

Thanks Johnla for the quick reply.

At this time I don’t want to get into JP1 just yet, maybe down the road. And I understand that using the learn mode will eat up memory fast. Reading from other posts, it seems possible to use a non-Onkyo rcvr code that’s compatible to the Onkyo. Is there such a rcvr code that’s compatible to 0135?

Nothing that I could find would work with it. But adding just that one code, was easy to do with the JP1, so you might want to consider it. Faster than learning the commands I'd bet also. What got me upset, was the fact that they printed Onkyo being one of the brands on the back of the package, as one it would do. Plus the fact that Onkyo is a very popular brand. I don't consider having to learn or using the JP1 as one it could do. Hell it will do damn near anything if you force it or teach it the codes from another remote or with the JP1. But I can also see where they only have so much room in memory, that they have to leave some out now with all the brands. I just think it was a bad choice to make Onkyo, one of those.
