Hi Everyone,

I hope I'm in the right forum here. I'm new to this stuff, although not new to electronics and programming in general. I'm nearing my wits end trying to figure out how to input a Cinema 7, Setup 0 1 4 code sequence into my RCU810 (through JP1) so that I can access the ADDR mode of my Toshiba 50H80 RP set. I don't have a Cinema 7 remote, have visited Radio Shack, but can't justify spending $40-50 Cdn on a remote just for the key mover feature. I know, I'm cheap.

Can anyone here send me the Setup 0 1 4 codes, and possibly brief instructions before I shoot myself in the head?

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Actually JP1 questions are better covered in the Yahoo groups JP1 forum ,
but I think it's OK here too as long as it doesn't turn into a long JP1 specific dialog. Anyway, I'm not sure you need a JP1 answer:

Non JP1 answer: Press CodeSearch 0 1 4 on your RCU810 to do exactly what Setup 0 1 4 does on the Cinema 7.
Of course on either model you must first assign the right setup code to a device key and that setup code (but not the 014 "EFC") must be 17 higher on the RCU810 than the same setup code on a typical UEI remote such as the Cinema 7.

The Cinema7 can also bind that EFC to a single keystroke (as a "key move") with a 994 command. The RCU810 can't do key moves without JP1.

JP1 answer: On the key moves tab of IR.EXE you can select a key and device mode and assign the right setup code and the 014 EFC to that key. Then every time you press that key in that device mode you get this function.

I'm assuming you really meant Setup 0 1 4, which is an EFC rather than long_press_of_setup and a 4 digit number, which would be a setup code, for which it would makes sense to ask for someone to send "codes" (each setup code may have a long list of advanced codes).

Thanks Johnsfine,

I tried pressing CodeSearch 0 1 4 but it simply changes the TV to channel 01. I have programmed the device key (TV) as 1273... the setup code for my Toshiba TV. Should I be looking up the Cinema 7 device code for Toshiba TV and adding 17 to that?

I just tested on my RCU810. I was wrong about that CodeSearch method. I thought I remembered that working, but I can't get it to work now. That means I don't know a non JP1 method of sending an EFC.

The 17 goes the other way. TV/1256 is a Toshiba TV setup code in several UEI remotes. In the RCU810 TV/1256 is entered and displayed as TV/1273, but internally it is storedas TV/1256.

The Cinema7 does not include TV/1256.

TV/1256 is a modified version of TV/0156. Most of the keys are the same. The Cinema7 has TV/0156 and the RCU810 also has TV/0156 (entered and displayed as TV/0173).

There are several differences between TV/0156 and TV/1256, such as the TV/VCR key is missing from 1256. The Enter, Menu, Guide, and Select keys are different; But neither version has a key pre assigned with the 014 EFC.

You initially said you would do this through JP1. Sorry I temporarily mislead you about the non JP1 method. I think you should do it with the JP1 method.

Once again, thanks.

You have made more sense in 2 posts that what I understood from reading several doc's. I will resort to the JP1 forum for further info.

Thanks.

The RCU810 does not have the key mover function built in, at least, not in such a way that you can use it without JP1.

I think I understand now...

In IR...
Under Key Moves tab, bind device TV with key of my choice, select function to perform device type and setup code and enter the EFC number (ie. 014).

Download to remote.

It's very anoying to keep having to turn my devices back on after accidently turning them off. my email is [email protected] thanks.

There's no way of disabling that feature, you'll have to get use to holding your hand over the the front of the remote when changing devices.

With JP1 you can disable that feature.

JP1 is a little harder to add to an RCU810 than to a URC7800 (and much harder than the remotes that already have a JP1 connector), but the RCU810 is so flawed without JP1 that you should go to the extra effort required to add JP1 support.
