I have a Home Producer 8, I replace the batteries and the screen shows
all charcters and symbols. None of the keys work. I try different
batteries with no luck, I also try holding down setup key also with
no luck. Any help?

What model #? I had a 8080 and it has some kind of short (probably a solder joint) that cause it to have strange power problems like yours. I'm not good enough to try and fix mine and don't know anyone who is :(
