Which are the best keys to use when assigning macros? Tried numbers but found that was a mistake. Can't use "MySystem" - which I don't use in my setup. Have used most of the other keys for the DVD setup. Only trying to control DVD, TV and CBL. John

You may not like either of these answers, but they are the only two I have.
1) The best keys for macros are the ones that are convenient for YOU, so don't ask US.
2) The best keys for macros are the keys (like device keys) that you can't put macros on without a JP1 cable, so get a JP1 cable.

What was your mistake regarding the numeric buttons? I'd recommend using shifted buttons for your macros. Rob http://www.hifi-remote.com

JP1 makes macros so easy that you really should get the cable. My device-switching macros are now on the device keys, unswitched, and that is truly convenient. The main power macro is on the power button, again unswitched. To access a device or power putton on any of the devices you use the power or device buttons switched.
As John said, any other macros would have to be your choice but, as always, JP1 is easy and fast. The remote is ready for the cable, the software is free so why not just do it?
