If no discrete codes exist, has someone thought up a work around for SA cable boxes?

This is the only component in my system I can't seem to turn on/off without using the Power button!!

Thanks,

PBC

Why don't you just leave it turned on?

I noticed it will get pretty hot if I leave it on for long periods of time ...

Can't seem to figure out a work around for this either. I've tried pressing everybutton on the SA remote to see if it will turn on with something else (like the DVD player) but I'm out of luck!

Hi PBC,

I too have been seeking discrete codes for my SA cable box. I think they don't exist. I've looked all over the internet.

Leaving it on is not an option for me, as the box is the new PVR (Personal Video Recorder) model, and the hard drive likes to make noise when it's on. Also, plugging it into a switched outlet like the one on the back of a receiver is not an option either, since the box receives software & program updates during the night and it needs to get power to do that.

Well, if you happen to find any discrete on/off codes, be sure to post them here!
