I have been reading a little lately on this JP1 thing and it sounds very interesting. I have been able to set up my 15-2116 to work all my devices pretty well. I have my Sylvania vcr/dvd combo set up on seperate device codes. I had to do a few advance codes and some keymoves, and they work fairly well. I guess my question is, with JP1 programming is it possible to create one device code to run the whole unit?

There's a good chance it will. Depends on the protocol(s) that the dvd and vcr sections use. What two device setup codes does each half use? If they are the same (ie. both nec1), the device combo setup in KM could easily make a combo code that would include the functions from both. If not, the device combiner special protocol may handle it. JP-1 with the 2116 makes this remote really sweet, and taps a lot of potential otherwise unavailable. For the 10-20.00 investment, it's well worth it. Jim

However, it's probably a good idea to treat the combo as two separate units. Just because the physical device is all contained within one box doesn't really mean it's any different two haveing a separate VCR and DVD in your system. After all, if you combine it into one code, would the PLAY button start a tape or a disc?

I assumed he had that already figured out, i.e. using "shift-(button)" for the vcr's commands since the DVD most likely uses many more buttons to control. Jim

Can you send me the device codes and advanced codes you used for the Sylvania DVD/VCR combo?
Thanks.

The device codes I am using are 0593 for the vcr and 0675 for the dvd. It is a Sylvania SRD2900. As I look back the only advanced coding I have done is a couple of functions for my sat receiver and one minor thing for my Sharp TV. I haven't found any advanced codes listed anywhere for the vcr and dvd device codes.

Where can I get a list of advanced codes for the vcr device code 0593 and the dvd device code 0675? Also how do you delete advanced codes from a shifted key on the 15-2116.

Call Radio Shack at 800 763 9232 and ask them to email the codes to you, and when you get them, forward them to me so I can add them to my site. Rob http://www.hifi-remote.com
