Is there a current OFA model that has codes for a Hughes DirecTivo? Their website is VERY unclear on exactly which devices are supported...

thanks,
Dave

Hughes Dtivos use the Philips code, which is VCR0618 or on newer remotes SAT1142. The RS 15-2116 and maybe the 2133(Kameleon) are the only one whose Tivo codes accept advanced codes.

Even though the version of VCR/0618 which is in the slightly older OFA and RS remotes doesn't accept advanced codes, if the remote is a learner and you still have the TiVo remote, this shouldn't be a problem. In which case, the RS 15-2104 ($19) and OFA URC-8811 ($25) should be considered options.

My 2103 doesn't want to learn the display and Guide buttons from my directivo remote. Will advance codes solve this problem or does the 2103 just refuse to do those codes?

Yes, the 2103 won't accept advanced codes for VCR0618. You might be out of memory, that's why it won't take learned commands. If you get the 2116, it will accept advanced codes for tivo.

Does the 2013 remote take Tivo commands through a learned function or does it takes them through punching in component codes?

All of the above. If you are using a 15-2103 for TiVo you should first program the VCR/0618 setup code, then you should use learning to "fill in the blanks", (ie, to program the missing buttons).

There is a DirecTV remote made by UEI that is good as a TiVo remote replacement. It uses the 1142 code for Hughes and Philips Tivos and 1639 for Sony. Model number is DTVURC1. Does all the TiVo functions, has lighted Nav buttons and does all the menu functions on my Sony Wega TV which is something the TiVo peanut and Cine 7 won't do. It does not have learning capability. It has the 6 pin JP1 connection. When you can find it on ebay, it is usually 7 to $14 plus shipping. DirecTV sometimes ships these blue remotes with re-furb non-TiVo Hughes receivers.

Could you post a link to either a web site or an Ebay listing for this remote that includes a picture please.

Thanks,
Rob

The above ebay # has a great picture. The one I saw was item # 1947469127 - no picture, no info; but the price was only $7 "Buy It Now" They seem difficult to find but the price is usually right for the capability of the remote.

I think I need to be more specific, so I might get the answer I need. I have a B&K System Controller AV5.1 purchase ~3.5 years ago. I believe this unit to be a private labeled Home Theatre Master clone. I got a new Hughes HDVR2 Tivo Unit. I tried the component command 0618 and the error message came up, then 618 error again. Help!

The 0618 code is a UEIC/ofa code. Your B&K AV5,1 is a clone of the HTM SL-9000. Which pre-dates the tivo, but if you want to try a HTM tivo code, try 090. Just teach the AV5.1 the tivo commands.

You're gonna have to help me out here. On 12/26 you gave us the impression you were talking about the 2013 (ie, the Radio shack 15-2103) remote, but then on 1/2 you say you are really using a B&K remote. When we answered your original question it was based on the assumption that you were asking about the Radio Shack remote.

Furthermore, you are using incorrect terminology, so we can only make guesses as to what you really mean. We don't know what "component codes" are, but we are assuming that you are referring to what are known as "setup codes" here. To program a TiVo using the Radio Shackremote that you mentioned in your original post you would use VCR/0618. I have no idea what code you would use in the B&K remote. If indeed it is a clone of an HTM remote, this question would be better asked in the HTM forum where they might know what codes are in the remote.

My apologies for the misdirecton.

I am running a few things through my head right now. Buy a new universal remote, in which case, the OFA models due to their extreme value would be a good choice... if they work with the new Hughes HDVR2 Tivo, an Onkyo 474 Receiver, Sony VCR, Panasonic TV and Proscan DVD.

Or Program the HTM Model I have, which I do not even know if it has IR frequency band to control the Tivo unit. I will check the other thread again. Thanks.
