Just got this and it's not as great as I expected. (read: I don't know how to use it yet :-)
I have a Yamaha RX-V492 receiver and it works mostly, the number keys on the Remote change the inputs on the receiver, but there are a couple
of keys that do nothing, and there are a couple of inputs on the receiver that the keys don't reach. The Pip for the TV (Mitsubishi) works, but wont move and the 'swap' seems to be the "select key"
Is this the type of thing that can be fixed with an upgrade? I noticed there are more codes on line, but my remote says "not found" when I try
them.
Also, can I program any key to do what I want, like the Cinema 7? I want to 'learn' from my old remotes to the same basic keys on the new
remote, not just to the L keys, possible? If so, how, (do I have to reassign the keys from a working L key?)
I also thought I read that there were more ways to record macros, was I confused again? 2 just won't cut it.
Thanks for any input.

Macros can be placed on any key in a device, including the macro keys at the bottom. "Keymover" should allow you to move a function from one key to another; missing functions could possibly be found using Advanced Codes (which you'd need to get from One For All for your specific TV model). With the Home Producer you can only learn codes onto the specific learning buttons.

Monty,
You can use "keymover" to get the swap feature where you want it. One bad mistake with this remote though is you can't move the 1L-6L keys and you can't use 1L-6L keys in a macro.

Phil-

Ditto on the mistake!!
Almost makes this remote useless as far as macros are concerned.

Does that mean that the Producer 8's can't use the "L" keys IN a macro sequence, or that macros can't be placed ON the "L" keys?

Well, I'm sure it can't use "l" keys in a macro sequence but I'm not sure about the second part of your question.
