I just got the 6109c dvd yesterday and have only one complaint, the remote. It is busy, poorly designed and all around ucky. Lo and behold I have a Cinima 7 for everything else so I used the Toshiba DVD code of 503 and... nothing. Nothing at all.

Anyone here have any suggestions for me in getting the 7 setup to run the 6109c? I think it is a problem because it is also a receiver (Onkyo).

Thanks in advance,
Bappo

oops! Nevermind. The 0503 code does work it just doesn't have hardly anything pre-setup. Like power on for example. I just taught the 7 power on in the POWER button and standby in the L1 button and they work fine. Gonna have to program in just about everything but hey it works.

Do a code search in the DVD device, but instead of trying the POWER button, try something else like the PLAY button. Be sure there's a DVD in the device, and it's ON, and STOPPED. If and when you find a DVD device code that will work your DVD, write it down.

Do a code search on the RVCR device, following the same advice suggested above. If you find one that does ANYTHING on your receiver, then you'll probably find that with it most of your functions can be found on other buttons or with advanced codes.

When you know the two seperate device codes for DVD and RCVR, it's a small matter to remap the DVD shuttle commands into the RVCR device's button using the 994 sequence.

If you can only get the RCVR part working, then you might just be able to LEARN the basic DVD buttons.

It will take a while, but I'm almost willing to bet that you can use your Cinema. Hopefully it's a 7800 or 6800 and can learn.

Good luck,

Dave

Thanks Dave. It ended up that the 6109c uses both the Onkyo 0135 RCVR code and the Toshiba 0503 DVD code to work. And yes this is with a 7800.

Bappo, a happy 7 owner;)

Bappo,

Though the two device codes activate the same IR
protocol, you may find that they have different
default key mappings. In other words, more
buttons may work by default in one than the
other, so play around with both to see if you can
find which one better matches your equipment,
assuming one does.
