Just bought a RS 15-2103. Seems to work just like the old 15-1994 and I really like it. One thing I haven't been able to accomplish is programming the Surround Sound button from a Sony DVD player's remote onto the 15-2103. (Sony DVD model is DVP-NS300S.) I have been unable to get the 15-2103 to "learn" this button. I tried several of the advanced codes for DVD_0533 from the hifi-remote.com site, but none will work the Surround Sound feature on the DVD player. Anyone have any ideas or information that would be helpful?

Thanks - JP

If all else fails, you could just go thru all the 256 possible advanced codes manually and see if you can find the code. I have worksheets on my site to help with this process.

I realize this is a VERY late response but...THANKS! I've lost a good amount of sleep trying to find this EFC!

Thanks again!

Now on to "HD Zoom"!

I suppose that you won't pay any attention to this, since it's been pointed out to you before, but it's not necessary to spend hours to get the EFC.

hifi-remote.com/sony/Sony_dvd.htm lists the Sony command numbers.
hifi-remote.com/jp1/lookup/  gives you the setup codes which correspond to the device.subdevice numbers, and which can therefore be modified via EFC, in case you didn't already have a setup code.
RemoteMaster allows you to convert the command numbers to EFCs.

Surround is command number (OBC) 90, which corresponds to 224.

The above link shows possibilities for Zoom on a Sony DVD.  I think "HD Zoom" is a label on a button on a Comcast remtoe.

Hi 3FG,

First, thank you for your help. I sense your frustration with me, and I want to let you know I have tried to download the Remote Master files to execute. However, I am having trouble downloading and executing the files for some reason. I am following the installation instructions as prescribed, but still run into issues opening and mapping.

I apologize for any frustration I've caused you, hopefully I will get this software installed and executing properly. Right now I'm trying to delete the programs and files to find a clean point for the next attempt.

Thanks again for all your help, not just this question, but for all that you've helped me find a solution.

Ask for help on the installation at the JP1 site. One or more of us well help you do the install. I'm sure that getting RM installed will pay you dividends.

Thanks,

I'll try a few more time to install; then I'll seek out help as needed.

The snag seems to be when Vista unzips the file, somehow the .exe is not fully opening. Vista also keeps throwing up the mapping error as well.

Enjoy the holiday!

I think the Java version has more users, and may be more robust in installation.
