Is there a way to completely clear a key of all functionality? It appears to me that the default mapping (as dictated by the device code) always remains. Is there a way to simply have the key do nothing?

For instance, my TV device 0000 assigns typical Sony transport controls to the transport buttons at the bottom. Not a huge deal unless I accidentally press the PLAY button which turns on my Sony DVD, which just annoys me for some reason.

I'd like to just clear the TV device transport keys of all functionality - can anybody help?

Well, why not just put a code in for a device you absolutley, positiviely don't have? It will transmit IR pulses, but won't affect anything.

Thanks Gerald,

I did realize that (and that is what I have actually done), but given the many knowledge-thirsty and creative posters on this board I was hoping somebody had discovered an undocumented 9XX command code or some keypress sequence that would allow me to do like I originally wanted.

Any other ideas out there?

It is unlikely that such a
command exists for the simple
reason that it would require
memory, just as the 994 command
does, for the remote to remember
that that button is supposed to
do something other than its
default function, and as long as
you're going to use up memory to
do it, you might as well just
assign a function for a device
you don't have to that button.
