I purchased the RS 15-1994 based on postings on Remote Central and general asthetics (I won't get into the debate about this or the Cinema7 being better looking-it's a personal choice.)

Anywho-- I've gotten the RS 15-1994 to work with all but my RCA "AudioTheatre" receiver. It's not a high end receiver, but it gets the job done ok for me. Every other universal remote I've tried works with the RCA. The code given for RCA (0531) does not operate the unit. Neither do codes I found on One-For-All's site.

I would do a learning process with the commands from the original remote, but it doesn't work at all anymore.

Is there anything else I can do?? Any help would be wonderful! I am getting tired of having to get up to change from VCR to Video and to change volume. The receiver is probably the most annoying component when it's not controlled via remote!

Have you tried the code search method?

Yes, I neglected to mention that in my previous post, but I did try code search. No luck.

It's very weird that the Jenson 570 I bought controls the receiver very easily, as do all the RCA remotes I've tried (obviously), but a very sophisticated learning remote doesn't work at all.

A few possibilities leap to mind:

1. Is is possible that your reciever key has been
re-designated as some other kind of device? You
could try first using the 992 key to make sure
that the reciever key is still considered a
reciever key, and then try the 0531 code again.

2. Have you tried doing a code search in
something other than a reciever device mode,
particularly the AUX mode? (I'm assuming the
15-1994 has an AUX device key.)

3. Have you tried the other RCA reciever codes?
(0054, 0360, 0530)

Ingenious -

Thanks for helping me with this! This forum is so great because the 800 number is ALWAYS busy!

1. I have played with the key designations, from AUX to CD and back. It doesn't work either way.

2. I've tried code searching on AUX1, AUX2, CD... none work.

3. I've tried all of those codes as well as other RCA codes for "misc. audio" etc.

I am pretty much resigning myself to use of more than one remote. I guess that's ok. It's either that or buy a new receiver - hmm...theres a thought! Fiance would kill me though.

have you tried learning the functions from the Jensen remote, as you said that one works

The Jensen didn't work quite right as I couldn't select sources on the receiver.

However, last night I did have a breakthrough! I found another remote, RCA SystemLink which, although it doesn't run my sat or DVD correctly, does work the reciever.

Later today I'll be using it to program the RS 15-1994 (I hope). If it works I'll post my experience for others to learn from!

Thanks for the help!

15-1994 Not Working
Historic Forum Post
For what it is worth, the first OFA 7200 remote that I got (a couple of years ago) worked fine, until I tried to program in my Laser Disk player code. I tried the code, but to no avail. I even "searched" for the code. Nothing. All the other devices worked fine. So I took it back, exchanged it and the new one programmed fine.

The point being, if the 15-1994 is a 7800/7200 or whatever in disguise, maybe same problem????

I believe your choise of AUX1 or AUX2 is correct for the receiver, but try all of the buttons and see.

I picked up the 15-1994 today. After I got it out of the box, I noticed something VERY strange...it has NO button for DVD! In the manual it states that Laser Disc (!) players are under the "VCR" catagory. So I tried programming my Pioneer DVD player as a vcr with the code in my Cinema 7 book. It worked just fine. In fact, the "Enter" (or is it Select?) button worked whereas I had to fix it on my cinema 7 using the advanced code.

The 15-1994 is definately an odd bird. I did use the 992 function to make AUX1 a VCR, and then give it the DVD code. However, I don't remember if I actually NEEDED to do that. BTW, the manual does NOT mention the 992 function! (even though it seems work :)

I got a bit off topic on that last post. Sorry. Anyway, I tried doing a search on the Internet for your equipment. It appears that RCA has dropped that "Audio Theater" line.

That code that you used with the Jenson 570 that worked with your receiver, why don't you try looking in the Jenson 570's table to see if that code is used by any other manufacturer's device. If another manufacturer uses the same code, maybe you can try *that* manufacturer's list of codes for the OFA in the OFA manual. General Instrument and Jerrold cable boxes are notorious for remote code swap (since they are the same company).
