I've had my C7 for a month and had it pretty well set up for my system until today. My "L" keys have stopped working. I hold "setup" blink-blink push 9-7-5 and get one long blink. I've tried clearing the "L" keys and re-entering but still get the long blink after 9-7-5. Help please !!

How did you clear out the "L" keys? Did you use
the 976 code, or something else?

Do you still have any learned functions in
memory?

I used 976 and when I hit any of the "L" buttons it does not blink. I have no learned functions in memory.

Not until today after the "L" keys failure. I have replaced most of the "L" functions I lost with advanced codes and info off of this site. But it still bothers me about this loss of function.

Have you tried the master reset code? (NOTE: This
is a last resort. It would erase ALL programming
and customization, causing your remote to revert
to the original factory state.)

I am having the same problem. My 7800 will not learn at all (it never has). I tried using 980 as the master reset, but it didn't seem to do anything. My remote is still programmed. It didn't reset anything.

Any other suggestions? New batteries, etc. I hit Setup then 9-7-5 and get the long blink. No double-blink.

Help is appreciated.

I have exactly the same problem. My remote will simply not learn any commands. I have tried all the resets, but I just get the long blink. Unfortunately, I would like the remote to learn the power on/off for my projector as there is no discreet code. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Same thing here, mine wont learn at all I wrote some nasty mail to One for All after hours of wasted time. I am returning it since it sucks.

The Oneforall remotes are finicky about the program key sequences. You've got to have it exactly right, or the response will be that annoying long blink or nothing at all. I was sure mine was broken until I realized I'd read the sequence wrong and was inputing things in the wrong order. You also only have a short amount of time to press the original remote's button before the ONEforALL gives up and exits the programming routine. Be quick.

So, try it one more time before giving up.
To learn:

- Press DEVICE (that you want the learned keys to work in.
- Press and hold SETUP until it flashes twice.
- Enter 975. You should get two blinks.
- Press the button you want the code learned onto.
- TAP (don't press and hold) the button on the original remote that you want taught to your ONEforALL. Be sure to have it's IR emitter pointing at the TOP of the ONEforALL.
- repeat the last two steps, teaching as many keys new code as you can.
- PRESS and HOLD SETUP until two blinks.

One BIG mistake many make with learning is that they hold the original remote's button down, waiting for the ONEforALL's response. This sends a continuous stream from most buttons which will quickly use op the ONEforALL's learn memory.

If you're getting the long flash, but using the right program sequence, then I'm sure your learn memory is FULL, defective, or does not contain enough room for the code you're trying to learn.

The learn memory IS limited. If you can find advanced codes to use, then opt for them.

OK, so if I am still getting the long blink after setup (2 blinks) 975 (long blink), my unit is either out of memory (w/o ever learning anything) or it's defective.

Can anyone tell me how to completely reset everything? I want to wipe it clean to rule out a memory issue.

- press and hold SETUP until you get two blinks together.
- enter 980
- press and hold SETUP until you get two blinks together.
- enter 981

The first "should" remove any programming but not the devices you set it up to use.
The second "should" completely reset it to the condition it was when you first bought it.... In other words, nothing programmed in.

If those don't work, try putting it in the microwave on HIGH for 30 seconds. I haven't any idea what that will do, but it would be interesting to know. Let us know the results if you try, OK? ;-)

I finally started fooling around with the learning function on my C7
(never needed to use it until I decided I wanted more space for new
macros). Given that you *do* have to have the right timing down and
all, I am more inclined to believe that a C7 simply isn't being
programmed right rather than its learning function is defective. I
would initiate further trial and error, even going so far as to
contact OFA for programming assistance or programming the "total"
master reset code of MAGIC [2blinks] 981, before I concluded one
portion of the C7's functions is 'defective' and returned the unit to
the store. (Having it exchanged at the store for another C7 is a
pretty good way of determining whether your unit was indeed defective
or there was something amiss with your programming).

Anyhow, just thought I'd add a note from my own page of experiences
with the learning function: I tried (successfully of course...)
learning functions from several remotes recently. At first, I didn't
find the manual clear on whether I should tap the original remote's
key during the C7's rapid flashing or after, and experimentation
showed the key press had to be during the rapid flash phase. Other
small problems I experienced was when the two remotes were not at the
same height (I placed my OEM remotes on a heightened support when
necessary, to meet level with the OFA's learning 'eye', and matched
the OFA's learning eye, marked by an arrow, with my remote's IR eye).

During the learning phase, I tried to make my "tap" on the original
remote as short as possible (in case it was true what I had read on
this board about a longer press wasting memory). It was obvious that
if there weren't two blinks at the end of the process, the key wasn't
going to work (if so, I always made sure the OFA's key was clear using
MAGIC** 976 code and started again). What was less obvious was just
how long you need to press the original remote's key. A short "tap"
didn't always produce the two "sucess" blinks at the end of the
process. Sometimes it did produce the blinks, but then I found the OFA
learned key just didn't work (I hadn't pressed the OEM key long
enough). Only through repeated trial and error could I discover just
how long I needed to hold the OEM remote's key down during the
learning process so that I would get the two 'sucess blinks' at the
end of the process, and the function would actually work. I say that if you're already having trouble learning keys, don't "TAP" the OEM key,
but keep it depressed as recommended in the manual - it appears much more likely to function properly that way. Worry about a shortened learning memory pool later, after you get things to work.

Boy,this thread comes at the right time. Just yesterday our babysitter killed my C7-IQ. The lights blink, but nothing works. Retrieving the codes showed very different than the actual device codes that I had originally programmed. I tried to reprogram it to duplicate the way it used to be, but after finishing entering all the advanced codes, it won't learn. I know my C7 learns because I taught it before, but now after SETUP-9-7-5 I only get one long blink. Could the memory be full?
