If you have a JP1 interface, you can learn buttons from your camcorder remote into the 15-1994, then use the IR software to view the codes used. Then you can build an upgrade code for the remote. For more information on the JP1 interface, see [Link: groups.yahoo.com][Link: hifi-remote.com]

Try the VCR codes for JVC. My Canon and Sony camcorders both work with OFA codes from the VCR list.

Hey Nirel, You can build the JP1 interface using parts from Radio Shack. Details: [Link: hifi-remote.com]Rob.

This intrigues me. Many camcorders will respond to IR commands but don't come with a remote. Of course, you can usually buy one from the manufacturer for an unreasonable price.
If it can be proven and documented that most camcorders can be controlled with VCR codes built into OFA remotes, it might incline camcorder makers to consider asking a more reasonable price for the simple remotes they sell to work with their camcorders. We should post this info once gathered to camcorder user message groups, if such a thing exists.
I'll see if my Cinema7 can control sony camcorders tonight. I'll post my results here. If anyone else knows what code on what remote supports what camcorder, please post here also.

You last option then should be to take your 15-1994 down to the camcorder shop and learn the commands from an in-store remote. If you go this route, I would suggest learning the camcorder buttons in P&P mode if you're not using any X10 devices in your setup. Rob. http://www.hifi-remote.com

I report NO success in finding a built-in code on my Cinema7 remote to work my Sony video camera.

David, try VCR code 0034. That's the one that operates my Sony camcorder.
