I've read some other threads about the inability for the Cinema 7 to handle the Directv Plus systems (none of the odd numbers or "up" work on mine). I was just wondering what my options are. Is my only option to buy a different remote? It's too bad, because it does just about everything else well.

If I have to buy another one, does anyone have any suggestions at or below $50?

1) If you have a code for which some buttons work, you may be able to add other buttons using Advanced Codes. or "Key Mover". See [Link: hifi-remote.com]
2) If you have electronics ability and interest, you can construct an interface cable, add a header to your remote, and add an upgrade to it. See [Link: hifi-remote.com]
3) For under $50, I'd try the Magnavox REM400, the RCA RCU-810, or the Sony VL-900. The first two have a good chance of having built-in support for DirectTV, and the Sony has the depth of learning memory to learn all the buttons from your DirectTV remote. I would advise that you ensure that the store allows you to return the remote within a period of time if it doesn't support all of your devices.

I'm going to try to learn the extra keys. If not, the RCA RCU-810 looks pretty good. I'm very dissapointed, because I really like to Cinema 7 besides this.
