Is there any way to get the Home Producer 8 to learn a function on a button other than the L1-L6? I have an Aiwa DVD player, and would hate to have wasted almost 100 bucks on a remote that won't control it... On a side note, I previously had a cinema 7 remote that controlled my cable-box.. however, this Home Producer 8 won't control it.. (not a problem, as I have digital cable, and thus have 2 cable boxes...it does control the digital box...)

Sorry to say, but one of the major drawbacks of the Producer 8 over the cheaper Cinema 7 is that you can only learn to the dedicated learning buttons.

However, part of the reason this remote is so damn expensive is because you can send it in for free to have codes added.

There is another option available though. You could return that Producer 8 and add the Aiwa code to the Cinema 7 yourself by building a JP1 interface.

What do you have to send them to get a particular remote added? The other remote, codes, ????

Also, JP1 can add any code to any buttons?

Greg and Todd, you just have to email [email protected] and tell them you need your URC-8800 upgraded. They'll send you an email form to complete. Once you've returned that, they'll send a return authorization number and mailing instructions by return email.
