Wondering if any one has run into this problem with Home Producer 8? I just bought it 6 months ago, and now the PIP button doesn't work. It's not a code problem, it seems like it's a bad contact, if I press the button really hard, sometimes I can get it to work. I had a similar problem with an earlier One For All Remote before where the volume up button stopped working. Does anyone know how to fix this, or reccommend a reliable alternative remote with the same features as the Home Producer 8? Thanks.

Rob's got a tip on repair at http://www.hifi-remote.com in most of the manuals he has online. It involves using a product made for repairing window defrosters to provide a new conductive layer to the underside of the button membrane.

Does anyone know if Loctite still makes the Rear Window Defogger repair kit? I searched their website (www.manco.com, click on Loctite products) and turned up nothing "remotely" like this. They don't even have an automotive section, although Marine and Recreational was promising but turned up nothing. Unfortunately they don't have a search engine on their website. Anyone know where to find it? Wal-Mart didn't carry it. Maybe an auto parts shop? thanx.

I have had problems with remotes doing what you have
described. Specificly, (did I spell that right?) they
seem to lose function on the most often used buttons.
Right now, I have a 6in1 that lights up. I believe it's
a 15-1905. Anyhoo, the fast forward button,(always a
popular one with me) began to require greater than
reasonable force to elicit a response. So I tried
taking the remote apart and cleaning the contacts on
the circuit board as well as the contact on the
(rubber) button itself. This is the black spot on the
bottom of the button which comes in contact with the
board. Cleaning these things seems to restore function
for a few weeks, and then you have to press harder than
before once again. Well sir, my new solution to
this maddening problem is to cut out a piece of alum-
inum foil the size of the contact point,(the black spot) and glue it onto the bottom of the button-on the
black spot. Now the foil completes the circuit when
you press the button. You might as well do all of
buttons, at least the ones that you use. These buttons
will now work better than any button on the remote ever
has. So I believe that the root of this problem lies
with the degradation of whatever that black crap is.
Last, but not least, the glue that I used is 3M
brand "emblem adhesive". This stuff comes in a white
tube with red labeling, and is commonly available at
most auto-parts stores for less than ten dollars.
I shouldn't have to tell you where to get the foil,
oh-yeah, it doesn't seem to matter which side of the foil you use. Just give the glue a few hours to dry
before reassembly. Good luck!
