Is it really just the lack of one device key?

I have a Cinema 7 and am thinking of getting a Cinema 6 for my other system (which only needs 5 devices) and can a deal on one locally.

Any advice most apprecialted.

Yup, that's the only difference! In fact, when we dumped the memory of the C6 and took a look at it, it even has a slot for the 7th device, you just can't get at it.

Rob,

I've been able to add a jack onto the side of a Cinema, and know it would be easy to add a simple push button to the side or bottom of the case. Can you tell if there is a logical place a 7th device button could be wired in to access 7th device control? Cinema7's aren't expensive, but I sorta like the challenge of getting a 7th device from a Cinema6 for the cost of a pushbutton.

I've never actually seen a Cinema 6 in person, so I can't really say. I would have thought that you would have to look at the circuit board itself to see if there's a useable gap anywhere.

Failing that, you could always sacrifice one of the existing buttons (SLEEP maybe) and re-wire it to be the 7th device key. These remotes operate on a grid system, so if you know the keycode of the 7th device key on a C7, you could probably do it.

This kinda re-wiring is outside of my area of expertise, but I know exactly who to refer you to if you really wanna give this a try. Drop me a line.

Thanks for the advice from both of you! But hey if you really want a challenge - how bout adding more memory to a C7!

Yes - I know I can reprogram mine if I build a box and solder on a connector - but hey I want to learn lots of keys and use lots of advanced codes.
