Ok, I give up. I can learn any other remote on to my C7 and 15-1994, but not Onkyo. (Actually I was able to once but not any more) I have tried everything. I am thinking that Onkyo uses a different wavelength so I will have to buy their multi-remote. Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

well Gregory ... I've got one thought at least. If you're sure your Onkyo code is not 0503, does the "search for your code" (9-9-1) function work? If so, I'd do that then retrieve that code with the 9-9-0 function, then see if there's an advance code list around for that 4 digit # at this site

(I listed the 0503 because that's what I thought the Onkyo code was ... ) and proceed with reassigning keys on your OFA as you wish. This is how I've gotten around my problem with my OFA not able to "learn" the remote-to-remote way. lemme know ...

Hi Steve,
There is no code for my DVD that works so I am forced to use the learn buttons. Like Mike said, I was able to do this once with the Radio Shack 15-1994, but no longer with that one either so I am bringing it back. I like the size of the C7 better so I am going to try to call them tomorrow and try to get to the bottom of this before I return it. Thanks for your help. I am glad that you fixed your problem.

I have the Onkyo DV 535 DVD player and I was able to learn all the keys to my C7. I also built a jp1 box and created an upgrade code, you'll find the upgrade file on jp1.

Thanks for your response. The DV 535 is basicly the same as my DV-C 501 only without the multiple changer. I just received an E Mail from Universal. They listed two new codes for Onkyo DVD players besides the 0503 that is in the book. They are 0627 and 0612. The said that if these codes do not work, to purchase the 8800 remote and send it to them for an upgrade. I would rather stick with the 7800. I am going back to Circuit City today to buy my third 7800. First I will try those new codes, then I will try to learn again. If all fails, I will take that "up grade box" route that you are all talking about, though I will need some coaching on this...Wish Me Luck! Greg
