I have the URC7800 and have it controlling my TV,RCVR
and (1) JVC VCR. All work OK.
Now my problem is; I still can't get my second VCR to
work.
It is an exact model to the one working (Code 0067). I called JVC,and asked them about the A & B thing. They were no help at all and told me to talk to the mfgr of the new remote.
I have tried the "Re-Assigning Device Keys" process;
AUX to VCR: SETUP* - 992 - VCR - AUX - AUX - SETUP*
vcr code (0067). Hooray! It should work, it doesn't!
My first VCR comes on, the second one sits there dark and dumb. I am really at a loss.
I bet someone out there can help me - can you??

If you have two JVC VCR's, and one is in "A" mode, and the other is in "B" mode, then the same code will not work on both of them. When one is in "A" mode, and the other is in "B" mode, they are responding to totally different command sets. I bet on your original remote you had to do something like hold down the A/B MBR key, press 1 or 2 and then hit stop. Now, you have to unplug your VCR to have it accept a command from the remote in its new mode. Once, it does that, your VCR is now responding to A or B commands. Then you have to go through all of the steps above to put your remote into either A or B mode to control the corresponding VCR.

So, what does all this mean? It means that you have to find the correct device code for either the A or B mode. Do you know which mode the VCR is in that is responding to the signals? Try the other codes for your VCR. I saw in your earlier post a code of 0042 or something like that. Try that one for your 2nd VCR. If that doesn't work, then you may need to learn the keys from your remote that controls that VCR.

Good Luck - hope this helps.

Oops - the code was 0041 in your earlier post - try that.

Bryan; Thanks for your insight. The JVC manual says;
Unplug VCR's power cord
Set remote control code - While holding down A/B on the remote control, press NUMBER key "2" then press STOP.
Plug in power cord
Press POWER on the remote to turn on the VCR.
I thought I followed those rules, however, I have the remote ON B4 starting (so I find the right cord to pull) that might be the mistake. I will try to follow their directions EXACTLY, and see what happens.
If all fails, how do I learn the JVC remote into the new one - just follow the directions? Is there a trick to it? Thanks for your help - I'll let you know
Earl
