I have the URC-8080 and use the device code of 000 for my Sony TV. All works great except the "Mute" button.

Do I have to program some sort of advanced code into the mute button and can I even do this on a button which also has a "shift" operation (Sleep)?

Does anyone know what the advanced code is for the Sony Mute feature and do I use the Keymover option to program this in.

I had found at one time how someone showed the procedure to clear a particular shift operation, but I cannot locate it again on this forum.

Thanks for the help.

According to the list at www.hifi-remote.com, the MUTE button for TV 0000 (Sony) is 339.

You should be able to program it as follows:
1. Tap the DEVICE key (TV). (Optional, sets the default device)
2. HOLD DOWN the MAGIC button until the screen reads 'TIMED SEQ'.
3. TAP the DOWN ARROW button twice, the screen will read 'CONFIGURE'.
4. TAP the SELECT button, the screen will read 'THEATR SEL'.
5. TAP the DOWN ARROW button five times, the screen will read 'KEY MOVER'.
6. TAP the SELECT button, the screen will read 'FROM'.
7. TAP the DEVICE button where you wish to take the advanced code FROM (TV). (Optional, will use the default established above if ommited)
8. TAP the MAGIC button and enter the 3-digit Advanced Code (339). The screen will read TO.
9. TAP the DEVICE button where you want to use the advanced code (TV). (Optional, will use the default established above if ommited)
10. TAP the button you want to use the advanced code (MUTE), the screen will go back to the main display.

To clear a shift key:
This process will delete a 'key move' (ie, a button programmed using an advanced code) from a specific button.

Tap a DEVICE key. (Optional, sets the default device)
HOLD DOWN the SETUP button until the screen reads 'TIMED SEQ'.
TAP the DOWN ARROW button twice, the screen will read 'CONFIGURE'.
TAP the SELECT button, the screen will read 'THEATR SEL'.
TAP the DOWN ARROW button five times, the screen will read 'KEY MOVER'.
TAP the SELECT button, the screen will read 'FROM'.
TAP the DEVICE button where you wish to delete the function FROM. (Optional, will use the default established above if ommited)
TAP the button you wish to delete. The screen will read 'TO'.
TAP the button you wish to delete again, the screen will go back to the main display.

NOTE: To deleted a 'shift' key, press SETUP between the two presses of the button that you want to clear. EXAMPLE:

TAP the SETUP button.
TAP the button you wish to delete again, the screen will go back to the main display.

This info came from Rob Crowe's manual at the site above.
