I recently purchased a Yamaha HTR5250 Receiver with the dreaded "Wheel" remote. I have set up all my components on this remote but now my family is having a hard time operating it. I was looking for a remote that would greatly simplify things. I have a sony tv, magnovox vcr and a Pioneer DVD as well. I would like to be able to hit one button and watch TV or another to play VCR or DVD. I currently have to turn ont TV, turn on amp, set TV input and set amp input. I have done a lot of researched and narrowed down to the RS 15-1994 and the Sony VL900. The RS has discrete codes but I have read that it cannot volume punch thru to the amp. The Sony has macros for component selections but no discrete on/off. Any suggestions would help.

Chris,
What did you decide? The Sony VL900 or the RS 15-1994? I got the 1994 to replace the unlit remote from my old Pioneer VSX-D1S Dolby Pro Logic Receiver. As far as the volume punch thru, I was able to copy the amp volume keys to my VCR2 device which I can only listen to via my receiver.
I am interested also in how you like your Yamaha HTR5250 Receiver? I want to replace my Pioneer and have always been intrigued by Yamaha's sound field based on actual venues. My new receiver will be playing music more than movies.
