I just recommended the 1994 to someone. They have a Sony 845 receiver. Maybe I made a mistake? Is it only the DSP functions the 1994 will have a problem with?

Has anyone confirmed that the advanced codes will work for DSPs?

They also have a Sony DVD player and VCR. Will the 1994 have problems with these as well?

Thanks for the help..

The DSP functions of the Sony receivers that use the 2-way remotes are going to be a problem for most universal remotes, not just the 15-1994.

Even if you have a good learning remote, it has to be able to store commands as long as these ones (which many can't) but not only that, you have to find a way to use the Sony remote to teach it, which most people find VERY difficult. Even if you get the Sony AV2100 or VL900 remots you will still have this problem.

One possibility is to get the Philips Pronto because others have spent alot of time trying to capture these commands, and have saved files with the results of their efforts, which you can download and use in the Pronto, but the Pronto has a MSRP price of $400!

If I can add to the Robman's comments: there is a problem teaching the DSP codes from ALL Sony A/V receivers.

The 900 and 2100 will learn them fairly easily, once you learn the trick, but they still will not operate the same way as the original remotes. ... Mike

Thanks guys.

If it's just the DSP functions that are a problem learning then they'll just have to cope. DSPs are junk...IMHO :)
