Any thoughts on which universal remote would work best with a 309? Price not a big factor. Also have toshiba 1200 and jvc 3500 vcr. Thanks in advance.

I'm certainly not qualified to say which remote would be the best but I can say this much....I'm using the 15-1994 with a Kenwood VR309 and even though this remote doesn't have any codes for Kenwood receivers it still works great for me. I simply learned the buttons of the receiver's remote that I use most to the appropriate buttons of the 15-1994, ie, volume up/down, mute, power on/off and learned the video input select buttons to S1, S2 and S3....works great.

I'm also controlling my Philips Magnavox RPTV (even controls the PIP feature), Hughes satellite receiver, Sony VCR and Panasonic DVD player with the 15-1994....it has codes for all of these devices.

Using a macro I can turn on my entire system with the touch of a button!

The other thing I like about this remote is that it's backlit so no more sitting with a flashlight next to me and of course no more fumbling for the right remote.

So, is this the best remote....I'm sure there are better ones but it does everything I need it to do and all for $30.....an incredible bargain, IMO.

Hope this helps.

The 15-1994 that is mentioned in the following thread has all the Kenwood codes added, in fact in addition to the two regular Kenwood codes (ie, 0313 and 0314) I have added three more codes, so you should be able to create every button from your receiver.
