I have puchased an URC-9800 from etown. When I have received my remote control I ve tryed to setup the remote for my devices (Philips digital Satellite receiver DSX 6010/62A and Grundig TV P37-830)
I have tryed all the codes on the web and on the manual ( By the way there were no code for Grundig on the manual! )

When I go to www.hudsonag.com I have shocked because there were only pictures on the support site. And The web page was very amateur made.

I have tryed the www.oneforall.com gave me similar result. My remote code was not exist on the web page. I have send e-mails to support, sales, webadmin, ofasupport several times but I couldnt get an answer from the company.

Now My situation

I can not get response from the company
I can not reach any technical informatin about my URC-9800
I have spent more than 100 bucks for this remote and it is just a useless remote for me.

Can anybody give me advice to give functionality to my remote control. What can I do as a further action..

Regards

Tolga

I was in the exact same position about a month ago. You also did not mention that all of the phone numbers that are in the manual are disconnected. In addition other numbers that were on Rob's site were not good. Here is the number that you need for the URC-9800 remote -- (330) 405-8605. Other remotes may need (330) 487-1110. They were helpful and can give you a "tag" number at this number, but do not expect that will provide any useful info there. If I ever have a company of my own, I must use this same support tactic to save big bucks.

An additional note, if you request advanced codes- the request does not work. The oneforall site states that you should get a tag number to upgrade the remote and states that you need to call or e-mail. They of course do not provide a phone number and if you try to e-mail them they do not respond, (at least they did not respond to me). What type of concept of service does this company have?!?!?!?!?!? With all that said, after going through all the hoops, I am reasonably happy with the results, if I do not count all the time I burned to make it happen.

Things seem to have gotten worse since Universal changed their approach to distribution of the OFA line; in effect, leaving the direct retail market.
There seems to be even more of a disconnct between the tech folks and the decision makers/information providers.
for instance, take the URC-9900 (Director/Mosaic) which was launched last fall. While the reviews of this unit have been tepid (mostly due to noncompetitive price) to good, it seems that many users have run into the fatal flaw of this model: the memory compaction routine end up corrupting the user programming; eventually the remote crashes and loses everything.
I tried email support and got no response, as has been noted already. So I started going through the list of phone numbers listed in the manual, the remote's help screen, and in these forums. Amazingly, I got a knowledgeable, if frustrated support guy on the first ring.
He told me that the problem I describe is well known to the UEIC support folks, but that the development folks have not given this any priority for working out a solution. He put me on hold and double checked, just to be sure, and confirmed his earlier statement.
Calling the model "a lemon" he suggested the best course of action would be to return it to the place of purchase, adding that perhaps sufficient customer returns (in addition to slow sales) might get their attention. How's **that** for customer support?
