I just called One For All (330-405-8605) and they said they still do not have a Sony Tivo upgrade for the URC-9800. I told the woman on the phone that there are an awful lot of people waiting on this upgrade. She said that she can only speculate that someone is working on it and to call back at the end of February. I suppose this is what I get for not researching before I purchase. From what I've been told, you can't program keys to any other buttons than the 'L' buttons provided on this model either. Would someone remind me what value I gain by owning this model?
Is there a "for sale" section of this site?

I also inquired about a Sony Tivo code, and the reponse that I received was less hopeful. Basically they are waiting for someone to "loan" them their remote for 4-6 weeks to create a code. As no one has of yet been willing to send them their remote, and I can't see that anyone would, I seriously doubt there will be a code in Febuary. I almost considered buying a second remote to send them, but at $40, I can get a new remote that already has the code. Unfortunate that they can't fork up the $40 to buy their own remote to support their customers.

We have developed our own Sony TiVo code for the 15-1994/Cinema 7 remotes, once I get around to figuring out the format of the URC-9800's memory, I can add it to those remotes too.

I'm a little confused. I called One for All this morning and was told that they DO have a code for the Sony TiVo SVR-2000. They told me to mail my URC-9800 in tomorrow for upgrading. Now I wonder what the real story is, as I see the two posts from this afternoon. Should I be the guinea pig or wait? I suppose I'll try it and reply back if it works.

Are you sure they said they had a code for the "Sony" Tivo? They have codes for the other models (Philips), but I was distinctly told they do NOT have a code for the Sony. I would try calling again if I were you before shipping off your remote. I'll try calling again tomorrow. Unfortunately, they stopped answering their phones 8 minutes ago today.

Ask the operator is the code they're gonna give you is VCR/0618, if it is, that's the Philips code and it won't work on the SOny.

Just got off the phone with One For All. They reiterated that they do NOT have a code for the Sony Tivo (or the DirecTivo). They only have a code for the Philips Tivo ... code VCR/0618.

Rob, I'll mention again (mentioned first in a different thread) that I'd be more than happy to help you get a Sony Tivo code for the URC-9800 together. Unfortunately, I am a software developer and my hardware (soldering) skills are lacking. Is there a place I can purchase one of the units you describe on your website?

These units are not available in the stores, you have to make them yourself, and I doubt anyone would be up for making them for someone else, even for money. Just FYI, this was the first electronics project for many of the people who have already made the boxes, so it's not that difficult.

Anyway, I have started looking into the Prod 8 format, so as time allows I will get it documented eventually, and then I will be able to add the code to the Producer 8's.
