Now I'm really nervous Mike. You have a newer software version and still problems. Still no problems on my end but have not reached the dreaded 50% mark. I'm really starting to think I should return it for a refund while I still can. I don't want to jump through hoops like you're having to do.

Keith: not sure the 50% mark represents any specific landmark. Also FWIW the new firmware manages memory differently. I had 8 devices programmed - two totally learned - and the rest with extensive use of key movers, key magic, and custom labels - and my memory was still at 94%. According to the tech folks, that's the way it's supposed to be. Brad (are you there?) also got the upgrade and he crashed in a similar manner. I'm not sure whether the old or new firmware is "safer" except to say that the added speed makes things much nicer.

So overall, would you recommend purchasing an 'URC-9900 - I am thinking of buying one and would really appreciate your opinion.
Thanks

Personally I feel it depends on price.

Yep, that's why I bought mine used. Knowing of the real and potential problems, I wasn't going to pay full retail just to find out.

Well, the retailer's return deadline was looming, so I proceeded to fill the memory to 50% by adding components, learned keys, etc. The "Memory message" flashed by. I checked the memory usage and it said 97%. I had a feeling that I'd been here before. Indeed, I added a macro and the button would not display the name I assigned it. Same with a newlt learned key.
The final test. I removed the batteries for a minute and then replaced them. "Beep." Touchscreen alignment screen was displayed. I performed that job. Reinitializing screen displayed. And..... GONE! Everything was gone! Just like the first unit that I had returned.
Needless to say, this is going back and I will not try another one. One for All had a really nice remote here. Apparently released before it was ready. Or there are some serious quality control problems. Too bad. Maybe I'll give the Pronto a try. Though I have read some problem reports with those as well.

Keith - sorry the bug got you too. I am not facing a retail return deadline, so I'll stick with it and report back. But I am not going to program it again until there is a firmware or hardware upgrade, or a PC interface to allow backups in event of a crash. For the time I had the new firmware loaded with 8 devices, it was growing on me and I enjoyed using it.
