I do not know if this has been reported here or not but
in working with UEIC I was told that the APEX AD-600A
DVD Player has now been assigned the device code of 0672. Though I did not specifically ask him, I hope
that means it is available for send-in upgrades.
If you have already seen or heard of this, disreguard.

This is true, but you need an upgradeable remote in order to get it, like the $80 URC-8800, the $100 URC-9800 or the $400 URC-9900.
Or, you could just do it the hack way on the $25 Cinema 7.

The URC-9900 (Director/Mosaic) has the Apex 600 code in its built-in database.
