I have found that the learning keys on my URC-9800 remote tend not to send the proper commands unless I have pushed a non-learning key in advance. For instance, I have learned the "Program Guide" function from a GI Cable Box into the 5L key. But most of the time the guide will not appear unless I first press the "Down" key which brings up the current channel flip bar. As long as I do this, the program guide key works 99% of the time.
Learned keys for other devices display similiar quirks.
Any ideas how to make the learned keys work just on their own?

Here's a follow-up additional question. Does anyone know what device's learned keys are used during "Home Theater" mode?
