I am attempting to replace a RCA CRK76TE1(RCA F25648 TV)with an All For One URC-8200B00 remote. Most of the functions work using 047 as the code to control the TV. Unfortunately, the URC-8200 will not control the Guide Plus menu screen which appears everytime the TV is turned on!

I am looking for the 3 digit advanced codes for the "OK" and "Guide" buttons on the RCA remote.

Any help would be appreciated!!!!

Is there a way to disable the Guide Plus screen appearing on the TV when it is turned on?

I'm having a similar problem with my F32695 RCA.
I've temporarily used 594 for the "OK" button, but it is a "menu" command. (Works similar to "OK" except that it also brings up the menu when not already in a menu, which the plain, old "OK" button doesn't.)
I'm also looking for the advanced code for the button that changes whether the input and channel up/down affect the PIP or the main screen.
I've requested both codes from UEI, but haven't heard anything yet.
As for Guide+Plus, I believe the code is 612. (I didn't have to program the advanced code for the guide, it already worked with the device code I chose. I used device code 0047.)

Dweeb, thank you for your reply! What models are your original RCA and UEI remotes?

How many codes have you tried for the "OK" button?

I have another problem in that the "Clear" button on the UEI URC-8200B00 activates and changes the basic picture settings without any acknowlegement being required. I guess I will have to map another key which does nothing to the "clear" key.

Have you discovered any other useful codes for use with your RCA TV?

Unfortunately, our TV does not have PIP so I can not help you out with your problem.

I am upset with RCA as they advertised that their remote that came with the TV was "Universal". It is so universal that it will not control a Hughes DSS system. It appears that RCA does not believe that the first or second largest DSS manufacturer is worth supporting. I guess that RCA expects us to buy a RCA satellite receiver.

I tried the codes listed at hifi-remote.com, which is as exhaustive as any I have seen for advanced codes.
I went through all of them that the description was even close to "menu" or "OK."

CRK76TA1 is the RCA remote which came with the TV. The UEI remote is what came with my ReplayTV. Rob @ hifi-remote.com (and a heavy contributor to this site) was the source for finding out it was similar to the One for All remotes.

I think I remember the picture settings changing like you describe.
I cleared out that command and replaced it with another, if I recall.

Dweeb, with your help I have been programming my URC-8200B00 to emulate the RCA CRK76E1 remote.

1) Adv Code 594 does perform a similiar function to the original "OK" button. Thanks! I will continue to hound UEI for the exact code.

2) The Guide Plus menu is not activated by the adv code 612 but 738 works perfectly.

3) Mapping Adv code 258 to the "clear" button corrected the problem with this button changing the video display properties. It now performs the "Clear" function exactly as on the RCA remote.

Thanks for your help! If you discover any other interesting codes please let us all know the tricks. I will do the same.

I have been programming my URC-8200B00 to emulate the RCA CRK76E1 (TV Code 047) remote which came with an RCA F25648 TV. As can be seen from the above messages, I am slowly getting the job completed but am looking for some additional device and advanced codes.

1)Advanced code for TV (047)

Looking for the discrete codes for "Video" and "TV" as opposed to a "Video / TV" toggle code.

2) Device Key and Code

Looking for the appropriate Device Key and code to control a RCA CVH920 Video Source Selector. The selector will learn "Power On" codes but I can find Discrete "Power on" codes for my Hughes B1 DSS receiver.

Dweeb, it looks like advance code 109 maps to the "OK" function on my RCA TV. It does not seem to bring up the "menu" when pressed at any other time. Could you give it a try to verify that it works on your TV?

Thanks for code 109. It works fine.
I also plugged code 738 into the other "Guide" button on my ReplayTV remote. Thanks.

On your video/TV issue, I don't think there is a solution. My TV has two video inputs and will only cycle through them. I can't "jump" to VID2 without first going through VID1.

On the satellite receiver, you may also be out of luck. Alot of the receivers don't have discrete codes for on and off; they just toggle.

I'll keep my eyes open, though.

The 109 advanced code was discovered by looking at a couple of Pronto files available in the download area. This function should repeat every 256 numbers hence 365 and 621 should work.

Do you have an advanced code to get to the video input directly from the TV screen? Even if it toggles between video inputs it will get me started. I guessed that RCA TV simply mapped the video input to a couple of "Channels" as the "Previous" button activates the video mode if it was the last used configuration. It was a great idea but diplaying each of the 125 available channels did not give me a picture from the video source. The video input does show as a "channel" above channel 125 or below 01 but I can't select it using a channel number. I am going to attempt to select channel 126 to see what happens. The TV rejects channel 00 so 126 or higher is all that remains before my theory proves to be a waste of time.

My TV has one RCA Composite and one S-Video input but it appears that which one is used is defined in a setup menu. As such, I have not found a way to use both.

I never believed that replacing 3 remotes with a single one would be so much work! It is fun but also frustrating!

I notice that nobody else inserts a name in their message (ie Dweeb). This is not meant to be a private discussion between Dweeb and myself. If anyone else can help we will appreciate the input.

Dweeb, i have a couple of additional questions.

1) What button did you use for the advanced "OK" code of 109? I used the "Enter" key. A more logical choice would be the "Sel" key but I was concerned that as the "Sel" key is used to program the remote re-programing of this key would mess up it's important function.

2) Did you manage to fix your PIP (Picture In Picture) problem?

My TV has both S-video and composite (RCA) jacks for both of the 2 inputs. (In other words, I have a total of 2 RCA composite and 2 S-video.) If I use the S-video, it ignores whatever I have placed in the composite jack. I have found nothing in setup that determines which input type it selects. It chooses S-video, if present, otherwise RCA composite.
I have "monitor out" from my amp plugged into input 1 of the TV using RCA jacks and ReplayTV into input 2 using S-video. (All of my video devices go to the amp, but it doesn't have S-video capability.)

Try advanced code 279 for switching to your video input. That's what works with mine.

The ReplayTV remote has a "Code Setup" button and a "Select" button. "Select" is centered amongst the arrow buttons.

As for the PIP issue, I'm still SOL. I've requested codes from UEI, but haven't even received acknowledgement. I'll take a look at Pronto files. Thanks for the lead.

Thanks for the advanced code for "video input"! I was hoping to find a discrete code for the "video in" but the toggle will work fine.

I am putting together an excel spreadsheet for the advanced codes used for the RCA F25648 TV comparing the published advanced codes to the ones which are used by the TV.

I am still looking for codes for the RCA CVH920 Video Selector

1) Correct Device Button (RCVR or CBL)

2) Sub Category (AUX etc)

3) Device Code

When re-assigning Device Buttons I noticed a feature called "Add a Macro". Does anybody know what and how Macros can be added to "Device" keys?

Ian:

Good news for me: I received a response from UEI about the PIP channel control. They sent me an extensive list of advanced codes for device 0047.

It's a positive sign, so you may want to try them for your DSS and video selector codes.

As for the macros under device keys, I'm pretty sure that those are the few keys that you can't assign a macro to. I believe others have wished for such capability.

I have done some more research and testing on the RCA Video Selector. As described by InnerCityAuto in the Pronto Forum each of the inputs are controlled by the discrete "power on" codes for the applicable device. (ie Sat,VCR1,VCR2,DVD)

The following are the codes found so far!

Sat 7:58 EFC=227 (RCA "Discrete On" Code)

VCR 14:58 EFC=227

DVD 5:58 EFC=227

The :58 Function is used by RCA TVs to switch to the appropriate input channel (Video CH 3 or CH4)

The VCR2 button on the original RCA remote switches the selector to the "Laser Disk" input. The Aux Button on the original remote does not switch the selector.

The problem is that the Protocol and codes must be RCA. As a result, the codes used to control a non RCA Device will not switch the unit. This is a real problem for non learning remotes such as mine. I would need a separate Device Button for each of the positions on the selector. Each of these Buttons would be configured to control a "dummy" RCA device of the required type. A macro could be used to select the appropriate "dummy" device and then select the appropriate non RCA component.

I purchased a cheap learning remote today and plan to test the above theory by learning then sending the appropriate "dummy" device information.

I could not find a device code for this switcher. It is now believed that one will never be found as the box is really not a Device but simply a switch looking for very specific RCA codes.

I hope that the great work being undertaken to program the RS 1994 and Cinema 7 remotes will eventually allow me to configure a normal key to control each of the functions of this selector.
