Has anyone found discrete power on/off codes for either the new TV's (mine is a 50HX70) or DVD players (6200)?

Seems that putting power into macros would be hard to do intelligently without the discrete codes. Anyone have a strategy for how to do it? My receiver, at least, does have them...

The lack of discrete ON/OFF has plagued Toshiba owners since "disctrete" was first discovered as a control option. It's the reason I won't ever buy a toshiba, despite their other great qualities.

Your DVD player "might" come on discretely if it gets some other control code. PLAY, for example, turns my Pioneers DVD player on, but never OFF. In my discrete macros I typically turn ON a device like a DVD player then open the tray. You might have to hit PLAY, then STOP (if there's already a DVD in the player), then EJECT to do the same thing.

You're right about how impossible it is to create reliable macros without discrete ON and OFF. It's the only way to avoid having to know the current state of the device and use more than one macro sequence depending on state.

Good luck in your quest. When I found my old VCR couldn't be discretely controlled, I demoted it to the quest bedroom and bought a new VCR that I COULD discretely control. It was very much worth it. I'm not sure, however, that getting a new TV just for the discrete code is as wise or financially practical. ;-)

I do have discrete on/off codes for the 5109 from a Pronto CCF file posted here on Remote Central. They work great.

Well, that's more a "workaround".

Could you please either describe the workaround or explain how I'm supposed to extract this info from a CCF file? And which CCF file is it?
