Alright, I am a believer! In the last few weeks I have had the 8800 remote and the 2100. I liked both of them but really did not like the size so I listened to what a lot of people said and went and purchased the 15-94 remote from radio shack. After playing with this thing for a bit I am beginning to believe that this thing will do almost everything that the others will for much less. Two questions though, Which keys can you program macro's to and how do you program macros? Thanks? Tim

You can program macros to any button you like. Others should be able to fill you in on more specifics.

What macro are you interested in trying? If you have never done a macro before, try something simple. "Turn on the TV, switch the TV to the VCR position, tunr on the VCR and hit play" should be a good one to try first.

To do this you need to enter the steps one by one as the manual explains.

But can that macro be on the device keys?

That macro cannot be on a device key; however, it can be on a shifted device key ('P' 'VCR' for example).

Hey Donald,
I've not been able to get a macro onto a shifted device key, so do tell how you did it.

I used my JP1 box - didn't try doing it from the buttons (the standard method), just assumed it would be available from them as well.

Got home tonight and tried programming a macro onto the shift-device keys from the buttons - couldn't do it. But it works OK when programmed with The Box. I have set up macros on Shift-DVD, Shift-VCR and Shift-CBL/SAT to power up the TV and DVD/VCR/ReplayTV. I'm looking for discrete codes to power down everything and plan to put that on Shift/TV.

That's a cool discovery Don, you should announce it to the list so you can claim credit for discovering it.

You mentioned that you have ReplayTV, did you see that I've created a hacked version of the protocol that accepts advanced codes and let's you set the system code as an input parm? I've loaded a spreadsheet up for it, I'm using the device2 box for the system code, if you leave this as zero it will control any Replay, or you can change it to a value to control individual Replays. I have included the advanced codes for buttons like the discrete power commands and the diagonal arrows.

I programmed system power off macro to Shift-Power with discrete off code for each device. It turns off everything.

I recently purchased the 15-994 and finally finish assigning device codes and all the necessary advance codes that I needed. Now, for the fun part, I'm trying the macros. Everything seem to work fine but I have a problem with my Mits projection TV. It takes a while after POWER in to be able to receive the Video Input selection. Even after assigning the video input command last in a series of 15 commands ( max per macro ), it doesn't seem to allow enough time for the TV to be ready to accept this command. Any suggestions will be gratly appreciated ?

My tv takes awhile to be ready to change video modes I simply added a couple of VCR STOP commands to lengthen the time delay.

back to Tim's ? you can program MACROS to any key except a device key ( unless you have a JP1 box) and to program MACROS you have to find the info on this site that takes you to the web page www.hifi-remote.com for instructions....throw the RS manual away man a waste of paper.

Here's one for the Macro experts........I haven't had any luck figuring out how to include the 'power up'of my receiver in a macro that turns all of my components on. Here is my problem, I need to 'hold down' my input select key for 2 seconds for my receiver to turn on but when I program this into my 15-1994, I can't fiqure out how to program that 'hold down' delay. When programming the macro I get all of my components to come on excluding the receiver.
