15-1994 won't control DishNetwork 4000 receiver??

I recently purchased the 15-1994 to replace my battered DishNetwork model 4000's receiver (up & enter buttons don't work now). I was able to program it to control my Mitsu projection TV, Sony ES receiver & Sony DVD player, and Sony VCR, however I cannot for the life of me get it to operate the Dish receiver! I tried both the 0775 and 0269 codes and even let it find the code, which ended up being the 0775 one, but I'm still unable to control the receiver. Anyone know if it is because the stock remote communicates with the receiver via UHF instead of IR? I saw an earlier poster with a problem with a model 3000 receiver, and it ended up being the remote address, but mine is and always has been "1". I'd really like to keep this remote as it's primarily to avoid buying another $49.95 DishNetwork remote, so it's worthless if I can't control my satellite receiver! Please help - if its because it won't respond to IR, can anyone recommend a similar UHF capable remote? I like the layout as it's alomst exactly like the Dish remotes...sigh.

Hmm. I believe your 4000 is lacking IR receivers, though they can be added with a little soldering work. There are NO universal remotes that can control RF devices.

I have recently done this modification to my Dish 4000 receiver and it works great. I bought the kit from Carlton Bale ([Link: carltonbale.com]) and the components he provides fit right into the holes on the circuit board. The soldering work is fairly easy. Go read through all the information on his website. No affiliation, just a happy customer.

Thanks for the input - I was afraid that no IR receiver in the older boxes was the problem. Luckily I just ordered a 4900 model "slave" unit from DishDepot.com for $199, so the old 4000 will be relegated to the bedroom anyway! Thanks again!
