Can anybody confirm or deny if Key Moves and/or using Advanced (ie SETUP + ###) codes takes up any kind of internal memory (ie is there a limit to the number you can do)

If so, does it rob memory from the max number of Learned Keys you can hold?

I would like to maximize the number of keys I can 'Learn' from other remotes, so if this means minimizing the key moves/ adv codes, then so be it. Otherwise, I'll go nuts with them :-)

The consensus I've gathered so far is people *seem* to think they do not take memory. However, I used to own a Home Theater / 8 remote (the big silver one), and I definately ran out of the number of key moves I could do (that remote had no learning ability), so there was some kind of a limit.

I can confirm from my own experience that Key moves and advanced codes do take up memory. They share the same memory area as macro setups. They do NOT share the same memory as learned keys.

There are 180 memory "units" to start. Each keypress you put in a macro takes one unit. Each key move or advanced code you use takes 4 units. You can have up to 45 advanced codes programmed, or 45 key moves, a mix of advanced and moved keys totaling 45, 12 macros of 15 steps each, or any mix of macros and advanced/moves that total 180 "units" used.

Although ONE4ALL claims room for up to 28 learned keys I have not been able to learn more than 16. This memory area is uneffected by how many macros/moves/advanced you have. IR code lengths vary so you may get more or less codes learned. I haven't been able to verify this.

I have only confirmed this on a Cinema7 but I'm guessing that it is also true for a Cinema6.

I was able to learn my Receiver's Power button 34 times. So, it looks like your assumption is correct about the IR code lengths affecting the number of Learned keys that you can have. (verified this on the Cinema 7 and Radio Shack 15-1994)
