I am desperately trying to get my Nevo S70 to work consistantly with a NevoLink. I am using Nevo Studio Pro 2.0.0.974. I have had issues with the NevoLink modules staying connected to my network.
I ran a ping of 10000 against a known NevoLink IP and received 20% Dropped packets.
I cannot get the NevoStudio Pro to upgrade the NevoLink to the latest Firmware. NSP sees the puck, sometimes, and asks me to press the upgrade button. It tells me it is downloading the support file, then it says it is rediscovering the NevoLink. This happens 3 times and fails.
I have managed to give the NevoLink a Static IP.
I consistantly get a Cannot Connect to the NevoLink Error.

Please help. I would like to reccomend these to my customers due to the ease of configuration but the reliability is for crap so far.

Thanks!!

Sounds like an issue with either the router or the link or possible firewall/antivirus issue.

I have used the link 3-4 times now with no such issues.

Do you have another Nevo link you can test or a different network?

Yes, I just received a second. They both do the same thing. I get 25% to 50% packet loss on both.

I have contacted Nevo Support. They asked if I had IPV6 disabled. I Disabled IPV6 no change. I then received an RMA for the Link. I am now working with the new Link.
System info:
Windows Vista

Firewall is Verizon Fios Router. The Link has setup a port on the firewall for the embedded OS.
"Link IP 192.168.1.161 Windows Media Foundation (ehshell.exe) - UDP Any -> 52791 All Broadband Devices Active"

I have tried connecting the Link Directly to multiple switches in the network results do not change. I have tried multiple Cables they do not change the results.

Anti Virus is Symantec: I disable real-time scan and get the same results.
I appreciate the help.
Thanks!

Hi,

So lits pretend that the Nevo Link is OK, this sounds like a network issue.

I would suggest moving away from your current network and do the following:

Get a domestic router. Not one supplied by your ISP. No Internet access required.

Disable all firewalls and antivirus running in Vista.

Preferably get rid of Norton as it is a pain in the butt. If not at least make sure it is completely OFF.

Set it to assign IP addresses (DHCP Enabled). Make sure your computer is not set to a static IP.

Confirm the IPv6 is disabled.

Connect only your computer and the Nevo link. Both using a cable. I.E. not wireless.

Make sure you are issued a new valid IP address.

PING the router from the PC. PING the PC from your Router. Windows may be set to not respond to PING requests so check this setting if you do not get a reply.

Open NSP.

Make sure that in NSP under "tools", "Manage Network settings" the correct network device is selected and your IP address is listed.

Go to the "Hardware" tab and select "Ecosystems"

Click on the "refresh" button.

If you get no results then select the reset button (Black circle with black triangles). Select Nevo Link and enter the Nevo ID on the bottom of the Nevo Link.

The above process always works for me when fault finding a system. If the above setup works then it is your network setup causing the issue. If it does not work then either you did not understand the above instructions correctly or something else is at fault.

If the above does not work then unfortunately there is not much more I do via a forum and further contact with Nevo is suggested.

I will try and let you know what I find. Personally, I think if it is this much trouble it is not worth getting a Nevo. The router I have has basic network security engaged. If that is too much for the Nevo to handle then screw it. I should not need to know how to program a firewall to use a remote control.
I really appreciate the help. I would have never gotten this much help from UEI.

Hi,

The above is not that hard to get going. It sounds harder that it actualy is.

The above is simply to prove where the fault is.

It could be as simple as a tickbox or much harder.

On a side note (not directed at you in any way IHT4ME).
I would never recomend ANY network product to someone that did not have the ability to do basic networking. I would consider the above instructions to fall withing a basic understanding. It shouldn't take no more than 30min to get the above setup running. Seting up a firewall (in a donestic environment) is usually already done my the manufacturer. If a dealer was tapping into the customers network then he/she needs to be prepaired to own/support that network.

I am with you. I have been doing networking for quite a while. This is a remote.
The training and the documentation do not support any type of troubleshooting methodologies or guidance on how the units speak to each other. In fact they speak only to the most simplistic set-up. The tech should be very straight forward. These things don't come with much documentation on how they work so even if you do have the basic network Technology back ground it is hard to apply to a quasi network based technology. That is what is so frustrating here.
If I knew more about what these the modules and the software was doing or trying to do it would be easier for a first time Nevo installer to troubleshoot themselves.
