If i make changes to the Q50 do i have to update the Nevo Connect as well? I made some config changes to the Q50 and now it seems it went back to IR instead of using the Nevo Connect ...

Anyone? Im a new-bee with the Nevo's systems ...

Thanks

it depends what you changed.

Can you be more specific about what you did?

Also- the sensitivity knobs on the bottom ... do they need to be tweaked? or are they set by default to work?

The whole story: I am new to the nevo family so i did a quick program which only included the cable box - scientific atlanta HD 8300 - used things like guide chan up chan down etc ... as well as the yamaha receiver which plays the audio RX-2400 - the cable box commands worked but te yamaha did not vol up vol down and mute - no good - so i went and "learned" the yamaha commands to the nevo - and then bam - nothing works now -

So that raised my question - does the nevo connect need some sort of reset or re-configuration?

Thanks for any help- in advance ...

the only time you need to plug into the nevoconnect, is for the initial setup.  you want to check for firmware updates and import the Mac address.  after that, there is no need to plug into the nevoconnect again.

the dials on the bottom of the unit rarely need to be touched in my experience.

my guess is that you didnt set up the i.r routing table on the nevo connect after you made the change to your file.   go into this table and select the proper ports that your emitter is plugged into.

if you like, you could email me the file and i'll figure out what is wrong.  my email is in my profile.

Hi,

As per Duct Tape. Nothing should need to be touched with your changes.

If your routing table is setup correctly then try a optimize.

Remote:
setup
advanced
ecosystem
configure
optimize.

uh ... I feel quite silly ... thanks guys -

I had all my components set to Front - thinking that front was the emitter ports - I set the ports up properly and works like a champ.

So this Nevo connect actually blasts IR signals out its front visor huh? quite cool. Im assuming the reason why it worked the first time i tried it - is that by accident that front port was pointing towards the cable box ... which makes all the sense in the world now ...

One last question:

With RTI products you are able to import remote libraries and have them local to the PC to program - if something is not available in the Nevo Library is it possible to import the IR codes without having to learn all of them?

Reason why i ask is I use a Sony DVP - CX777ES - and the Nevo library did not have many of the codes ... so I had to learn them - I have a similar device (CD Changer) which I noticed was missing many codes also. Its not big deal it only took 5 min's but was wondering if there was another way.

Thank You

you can save the devices to your personal library and it will save any learned commands that you added.  then when you add an ir device on your next project, you can add it from your library.   you can also copy and paste pages/buttons from one project to another and it will automatically add any associated devices that are used on that page/button.

you can also copy and paste hex commands, or convert pronto files into the nevo.   i've had good luck searching for pronto files that have the i.r codes that i'm looking for, and either converting the whole file, or just copy and paste the hex code that i need out of that file.

do yourself a favor.  download and install pronto edit, and pronto edit NG.   you can find both in the files section on this website.

no problem. i have also found that after playing around with studiopro for a bit, that it makes understanding the design guide much easier. i would go back and read the design guide. it answers pretty much every question that you have had so far.   i read it when i'm bored and usually pick up a thing or two that i never knew existed.

there are also videos in the dealer section of the website that have some handy tips for beginners.
