Help All,

I have a Nevo S70 and a NC50 but mu S70 seems to keep loosing connection to the NC50 and I keep getting a little red triangle come up next to my wireless signal display icon on the top bar on the right, occassionally the red triangle flashes yellow.

My S70 stays within 10ft of the NC50 so it should not loose signal at all. right now I can forget walking roud the home with it.

When it looses signal I get the screen come up "Troubleshoot Device Nevo Connect 1"
1. Confirm Power
2. Confirm Controller is in range
3. Press find.

Once I press find it only finds the NC50 controller if i am within the 5 inches as in setup.

Any Ideas how to fix this.. Help Please.

Thanks

The Fisherman.

unscrew antenna from NC-50 and then carefully make sure that you have it lined up correctly and reattach. If this dosen't correct the problem, then I would see about getting the NC-50 exchanged, but in most cases the antenna is incorrectly screwed in.

The Antenna is screwed in correctly. But just in case I removed it and reconnected and it still does the same thing.

Anyone else have any ideas. ?????????

Try the following;

Assuming all programming is correct and the Z-Wave network is set up correctly then try the following.

Disconnect the NC-50.
Take it to another location (as far away as possible from where is is now). Just the base and power no IR is needed.
Test the system. Do you still get triangles? do you get more than 10ft?
Do the antenna again, make sure you screw it in from the base (metal bit) and not the plastic antenna. This is 95% of all NC-50 issues.

If you get further range then there is an interference issue in its normal position. You could try a short antenna extension lead to move the antenna away from any interference.

If that does not solve the issue you may have a broken Antenna. Talk to your supplier as this should be a warranty issue.

sydinstaller,

Thanks man but I already tried this.. and various other options..

What happens is that I get 1/2 meter away from the NC50 and the "red triangle" appears. which I believe is the sign for "No connection form the S70 to the NC50" if I am within that 1/2 meter distance the signal stays connected..

What do you think. ? Borken Antenna or Bad NC50 totally. ?

Are you using learnt or HEX pasted codes?

Is hard to say what one is faulty. Take it back to the store you purchased the unit from. If you take the remote as well they should be able to simply swap the antenna with another one and test it on the spot.

I did one better.

Following your thought that it might be the antenna I looked at various Linksys wireless routers around the property and saw that they have the same connection type for the antenna's. I removed the Nevo antenna and conneted a Linksys antenna in its place on the NC50 and the connection is now fine. So it looks like the problem is the faulty Nevo antenna as you suggested.

Any idea where I can get a replacement antenna from or how much it will cost. ?

Thanks TF.

A word of caution though.

The Nevo runs at 921.42MHz (Australia/NZ) and the Wi-Fi antenna is tuned for 2.4GHz. While the likely hood of doing damage to Nevo is very small, it is worth noting that damage could accrue when using a miss-matched antenna.

So I would suggest replacing the aerial ASAP.

As Touch said, 1 year warranty. Contact you supplier.

What sort of range so we expect from the NC50. Currently getting about 30ft but would have expected about 100ft.

Cant walk around the home with it if it only reaches 30 ft need a minimum for 60ft.

How do we extend the range od the S70 and NC50, Do we have to add multiple NC50's so they talk to each other in effect extending the range. ???

you can link up multiple nc50s to extend the range, there is a how to guide in the dealer section of the nevo website.

on one install on a boat, i was able to walk off the boat, then outside the metal building that the boat was in, and still have it work. this was using only 1 nc50 and i was a good 75-100 feet away from the boat.

The NC50 is part of the zwave family which was designed to work 35ft. This is a mesh network, so if you had ligh another device like zwave light controllers then you would extend another 35 ft etc.

From Nevo.
-----
What kind of range can I expect from my Nevo controllers?

Range is determined by a number of variables (both environmental and network configuration). Open field range has been tested successfully beyond 100ft. In a standard installation consisting of 1 Nevo controller, 1 NevoConnect and typical residential construction total range can vary from 30-75ft.
-----

At my place I get 25m with the standard antenna. The "Average" on job sites is approx 15m. I do have jobs that get less and others that get more, up to 30m. A second NC-50 fixes the issue where a NC-50 relocation was not possible.
Also it is worth noting that l-com.com has a great antenna HG908P-RSP this has been very successful in improving the range of a Nevo system. I have only tested this antenna in both Australia and New Zealand.
