I thin I know the answer but I'm going to ask anyway.

with nevo connect can i do at least 1 way serial control. meaning hook the nevo connect up to my nuvo grand concerto and control it via the 50 then?

i know with the 70 you get 2 way control for certain devices, so am i also correct that the nuvo grand is not supported so i would only get i way serial control?

Thanks alot,
jim

you can do 1 or 2 way with a Q50.  you just need a NevoConnect and the Nevo Serial Adapter.  2 way is available with certain devices and requires NevoStudioPro 2.0 software and firmware updates in the Q50 and the NevoConnect.

Are those four devices (I think it's four) just the only ones "officially" supported, or are they really the only ones for which 2-way serial communication is available? In other words, has anybody tried 2-way with any non-listed components to see if they might work?

It sure would be nice to use that little IF macro that stares at me every time I'm in NSP! Any thoughts on when the Nevos will truly support 2-way communication? Four relatively obscure "select 3rd party devices" doesn't really cut it.... :(

I thought from the software only 2 way is for the 70? Or is it only on the 70 that you can get metadata on the remote for russound and iport?

thanks for the help.

there are no settings to view the RS232 streams that the nevo connect would be receiving.   there are only the preconfigured pages for the 2 way devices.

if you create a q50 file, add a nevo connect to the project, and add a serial device, it will let you add one of the preconfigured devices to your Q50 file.  you then need to set up a jump to that page collection (which cannot be modified)  by going into the System jump menu.

i havent tested these new 2 way devices yet with a q50 or an s70, but i hope to soon.

here is a q50 file that i modified quicky to show you where to find the page jump option.

Duct Tape, Great Info. It would still work one-way on a nor preconfigured device, correct? Wondering if My q50 a NConnect can just be plugged into a Onkyo TX-SR805 receiver and work??

Also, My Samsung TV has a rs-232c serial minijack. Can this be used for one way control, and where do i find information on that (Sorry if you see this on another post.)

Thanks, Mark

yes, the q50 with nc50 and serial adapter can do 1 way serial output to a device.  the only 2 way communication available is with the pre-configured devices.

what is the model of the samsung tv?  i havent controlled a samsung with rs232 yet, but sometimes you can get lucky and find the codes in the manual for certain brands.

otherwise ask here and someone can probably email you the codes.  you could also call samsung and ask them to give you the codes.
