On the Nevo web site, there is a section of recorded training videos. These are extremely helpful when you're first learning the basics of programming. I'd really recommend that you start there, just to get your bearings.
As for macros, it's very simple. You can assign any number of commands to a button, so "Watch a Blu-Ray," for example, might Turn on TV, Turn on Blu-Ray, Turn on Receiver, Set TV Input, Set Receiver Input, etc. So on your Home Page, where you select your activities, you put these start-up macros on those buttons. (Be sure to put in the appropriate page jump.) Similar macros can be used throughout your configuration.
I use NevoStudioPro, where the commands for a button are listed & edited in the "Properties and Actions" box, along with delays, page jumps, and so forth. There must be an equivalent area in your program.
