If you own a NevoConnectone please reply.

What problems if any have you had with your unit?

PROS & CONS

I found the SL to be the hands down winner in 99.99% of my jobs in IR only mode.
And, 100% of my WIFI customers have replaced the SL because the 3-7 second delay to reconnect was not acceptable. The delay was the only reason my clients "hated" the SL. SO, I would like to hear your opinion. No mater how insignificant your complaint or praise of this product may be, I would love to hear from you.

THANKS,

Rick

Hi,

I will restrain from making this about the SL...

I have a Q50 and NC-50 system. The only major shortcoming that I have is the range. With the SL on Wi-Fi I could get 25+m range. The NC-50 combo tops out at approx 15m. On saying that though when I am in range it works flawlessly and the battery life is fantastic.

While I know you can extend Z-Wave here in Australia there is currently no Z-Wave product available and a second NC-50 is expensive ($500 rrp).

I understand that in the future that will be less of an issue as Z-Wave becomes more popular and Nevo release more products.

Compared to the competitors the new Nevo range wins hands down in almost every aspect.

That’s my .2c worth.

i found the settings page and battery life very useful, if set to best battery it ditched the wifi and then had a 7 -10 second handshake before firing up again if set to best performance was better, however you also need to set it up on the studio page and download the settings, i found under power management the following worked best
on battery power
never
never
15 secs
20 percent
on mains power
never
never
15mins
20 percent

that also gave me about 8 hrs battery life when it was left out its cradle
depending on how much channel hopping was going on,
on a dull night it dropped to about 5 hours
lol
hope that helps

Well, back to the original question, the NevoConnect/Z-Wave is instant ON, so what this means is I have my NevoQ50 go into suspend after only about 30s, but as soon as I press the mute button, it wakes up and executes the command on the first press, so no more connection delay...

Now the NevoS70 just out is the same, yet with WiFi added back in, which gives me the option of using either instant ON Z-Wave or longer range WiFi with a couple of seconds delay. I guess really depends on the costumer and what they like...

With the Q50/S70 and NevoConnect - range depends on the environment that its it.
I've seen 50ft to 90ft depending on what building materials are being used in the house and where the main nevoconnect is placed in the house. Currently, the Nevo will use any other Z-Wave devices as repeaters only and this can also be achieved by adding another NevoConnect which is $299 MRSP USD. Approx $350 in Canada.

The S70 adds Wifi but it is not intended for equipment control - rather Media Management and the new built in Web Browser for viewing website optomized for Mobile Devices ie. Blackberrys, Palms, iPhone etc. This will allow the client to view IP Cameras, check traffic reports, weather right from the remote.
