Yamha is probably the least picky compared to other receivers. I am surprised he is having problems with yamaha codes. Try the codes from the closest HTR model #, in the online model-based lookup.

If that doesn't provide any love than try an older RXV model # like the RXV9xx model and see if any of those work.

thanks dave. i remember when i had my yammy rvx659(??) i dl'ed codes fro a different yammy avr to see if the discretes would work, and NONE of the commands work. and now my old commands from the 659 wont work on his 6190, which is why i thought it was picky. we did try the closest looking model number to no avail. i guess we'll have to keep trying different model numbers. i wish yammy had a data base to access like pioneer does!!

They do, its just they do not populate the codes for the HTR series, at all.

FYI-

Yamaha's are actually more inconsistant for codes than your Denon, Marantz, Pioneer, etc. In many cases, a code for one receiver may be another for a different model. Zone 2 codes have also been different. Added BLuray input for the new lines and sound fields have been re-arranged as well.

Volume +, Volume-, Mutes, and codes of that type usually are the ame for the RX-V line.
