The subject line says it all. I've googled all day and still have not found a way to purchase the Q50 other than eBaying it.

Another note, is the S70 launched yet and can it be found anywhere?

Can anyone offer some direction?

Thanks.

heres a cut and paste from an earlier thread today of s/one asking the same question -

"call dave d'arche at remotequest... http://remotequest.com/

unlike many dealers out there, he will actually take care of you.

all the best. "

I can second this recommendation. I tried the three local distributors listed on the mynevo site, one didn't carry Nevo anymore, the other two were palpably disinterested in selling a unit without accompanying home theater customization, i.e., they'd sell me a unit but with absolutely no support (their words). Dave answered my questions and delivered the goods. He charged retail, fair enough considering the lack of alternatives.

Just a word of caution..
Nevo is trying to keep the sales of their remotes in the CI stream, so be sure to buy from a distributor/CI dealer that is listed on the 'Where to Buy' of mynevo.com.
Someone that I know found that Nevo remotes bought on EBay or elsewhere were NOT entitled to any technical support or updates, or covered by the warranty.

Dave D'Arche is a great example, but there are others all over the country.

Brendank, I think there are international dealers on that site as well..

Attempting to resurrect this thread. Has anyone, anywhere heard Anything on the Nevo S70 release date?

Here it is June 2008. I'm assuming they've found some issues best addressed prior to opening up distribution rather and retro fix it.

Anyone....where is D'Arche when you need him?

The S70 has been "weeks away" for months. I gave up on it myself, as I decided I really wanted dedicated transport buttons. PM me for another source,

I have 6 nevo S70's that will arrive at our shop on Thursday of next week. If you are still looking for an S70 I suggest you contact your dealer. I also reccomend that you at least make an attempt to buy from a local CI if possible.

Having a CI that you can trust is very important if you plan to grow in this hobby. You will always be seeing ew gadgets come around that are only available through the CI chain. Find one you like and explain your situation of being a DIYer, most will actually be receptive. Be humble, the biggest problem with DIYers is that they are always trying to play "Stump the CI" Well trying to make a professional look like a fool will not get you far. Simply be humble, explain you reasoning for wanting to DIY. Most CI's actually started as DIYers so they can be sympathetic to your reasoning. Just don't expect everything for free. This is how these guys make thier living. For most it is not a very profitable gig.

Good luck,

If all else fails give me a call and we can try to help.

While your advice sounds reasonable, not all CIs are as amenable as you. I called the two I could find in my area and they won't even sell the accessories unless you have purchased a complete system with install from them. They weren't even particularly interested in answering any further questions once they knew I didn't want an install.

I'm sure that no professional likes being shown up, and they rightfully bristle. But you don't mention the extreme territoriality of many people in this line of work. Browse through these forums and you'll find tons of responses to DYIer questions to the effect "Get an installer," and "Don't be so cheap." As if you don't have the right to own a decent remote unless you have enough money to pay for their services. The fact is, many CIs see us DIYers as the enemy who's out to destroy their livelihood. (One CI even railed against a poster who was looking for serial modules for trying to take food off his kids' table!!)

Wow, if a CI is going to not be able to feed his family due to not selling a serial module, I suggest he begin looking for a new line of work.

If you are a CI reading this please don't take offense but if you have a DIYer who is seeking your help, HELP THEM!!! You're not going to change their mind from DIY most DIYers chose DIY because they enjoy doing it, it is not a matter of being cheap. It is simply a hobby that they find rewarding.

Here is my thoughts on why DIYers make great clients.

1.) They for the most part know what they are doing so explaining product functions makes sense to them, where a typical homeowner has not a clue what you are talking about.

2.) A DIYer typically knows what they want or at least the end result they want, a homeowner requires YOUR time to figure out thier needs and when you miss something it is YOUR fault. A DIYer will accept his own responsibility for mistakes and simply seek your advice on how to fix thier mistake. What's so hard about offering some advice to someone in need who would otherwise never be a customer of yours anyway.

3.) DIYers are loyal. 90% of my DIY clients come back and buy more equipment. To a DIYer you are a resource. To a homeowner you are simply a salesperson. You should strive to be a resource to every client, however homeowners only allow you to be so much.

Remember this if you are a CI anywhere in the world.

SCAR

that stands for your relationship with each client. it goes like this:

S= Salesperson, You are seen as a salesperson. Someone who simply is trying to get them to spend more money for your own personal gain.

C= Consultant, as a consultant you can give advice that may or may not be worthy but they simply listen to what you have to say.

A= Advisor, as an advisor the client will seek your advice pertaining to many areas you may have expertise. Your advice is taken as truth and meaningful.

R= Resource, as a resource they client depends on you. They trust you and you will have a long term relationship with them that will be mutually beneficial. A resource is something that no one will give up easily.

Strive to be a resource. DIYers need resources, they need good, honest, trustworthy and knowledgable professionals to be resources for them. they need you and you should not turn them away because you feel threatened by them.

I hope that anyone reading this can find something in it that helps them to seek ways to be a resource to more people everyday.

I for one am ready and willing to be a resource to anyone who would allow me.
