For the CSM1

Sydinstaller, have you actually used the Xantech CSM1 with the Nevo voltage sensor?

I hear some people suggesting it but I haven't heard of someone actually using it yet and I'm thinking about ordering some if they do work.

I looked up the user guide to the CSM1 and it looks like a wire comes out of it that will send out the trigger needed by the Nevo voltage sensor, but since it's a mono plug, does that mean I'm going to have to splice the wire and then feed that into my Nevo voltage sensor?

Yes I have.

I am currently using a CBCSM1 and SMLIT01. This is hooked up to the Nevo voltage sensor.

So either one of the SMLIT01 or CSM1 sensors can plug into the CBCSM1 block (meaning I can sense for light or power respectively)?

Then, which two ports do I link up from the CBCSM1 to the Nevo Voltage sensor? The +12VDC and GND? Or do I use one of the "PULL DOWN" or "PULL UP" ports?

Any of the Xantech sensors can be used.

Depending on how you program the Q50/S70 use either the Pull up or Pull down.
From memory:
Pull up goes to 12v when the sensor is active.
Pull down goes to 12v when the sensor is not active.

Best to check to manual on that but that sound about right.

Thanks sydinstaller,

The Xantech CBCSM1 block and SM1 current sensor worked like a charm!

I had a TV that did not have a "video out" port and the Xantech product sensed it and sent the trigger to my Nevo Voltage sensor so that the NevoConnect could tell whether the TV was on or off.

I also played with some of the other sensors for the CBCSM1 and they work just as good.

I am so happy that I can basically sense for any device now, this will really help me execute seamless macros.

By the way, I connected the "GND" (ground) and "PULL UP" connectors from the CBCSM1 to the Nevo Voltage sensor and that worked great.

What if you dont have the Nevoconnect module?

Then all this power sensing stuff doesnt apply?
Nor would the if then else statements?

This thread has so far been invaluable for determining how the S70 can detect whether equipment is in standby or active. Thanks guys. I'd like to take it 1 step further if I may. I'm currenly using Nevo SL's and I'd like to upgrade to S70's if it can do what I hope it can when used with the NevoConnect NC-50, Nevo Voltage Sensor Model # 1039, Xantech CBCSM1 & CSM1.

Can the NevoConnect NC-50 accept inputs from multiple Nevo Voltage Sensors (i.e. I have 6 tv's and wish to be able to detect whether each of them is active or in standby) and is each port on the NevoConnect NC-50 addressable so that power detection of each tv can be checked independently?

Finally, because the property is already flooded with cat5e I would be utilising a spare cat5e run from each tv room to connect to the central location of the NevoConnect NC-50. Can somebody please advise if the 3.5mm phono plug of the Nevo Voltage Sensor is single ring (mono) or double ring (stereo) and what the config is (i.e. tip, ring, sleeve).

Many thanks,
Mark

Xantech have quite a few other sensors that output the voltage required by the NC-50 voltage sensor so you should be able to find something that works.

Check out the items towards the end of this page;

you can use mulitple voltage sensors which can each have seperate i/r routing.  each voltage sensor has an i/r port on it as well, so you can easily plug in the i/r emitter for the tv into that port.  the plugs on the voltage sensors are stereo plugs since it needs to be able to support 2 way data flow.  output to emitter, input from voltage sensor.

ive been using the xantec current sensor module setup with every television that i install.  it converts the power state of the tv into a 12vdc signal that the Nevo Voltage Sensor can handle.  this lets me know when to send a long version of a macro (when tv is off)  or a short version (when tv is already on)

if you want to see how it is programmed, check out my file

has anyone mentioned that you can connect the video sensor to the DIGITAL AUDIO port of you devices . . .?
usually works pretty well on cable boxes.

on cable boxes, i get a green light the entire time if i connect directly to composite output. doesnt matter if its on or off.
but if i connect it to digital coax audio, it works perfectly.
no green light when its off, green light when its on.

then i just tell the software . .
for watch cable:
If Power Is
ON: Do Nothing
Off: Send Cable Power Command

the opposite for All Off

The same is true for the green on a component connection.
